Abstract When using laser radiation for ionization in ion mobility spectrometry, a large increase in the number of produced ions compared to e.g. standard radioactive sources can be achieved. This number can be so large that Coulomb broadening of the measured mobility signal can be observed.

Multicapillary ion mobility spectrometry (MCC-IMS) for early identification of bacteria in vitro
Respiratory Infections, 2017Introduction: Early differentiation of bacterial species is crucial especially in the scope of emerging multiresistant strains. Conventional diagnosis takes about 3 working days even Maldi-TOF requires a preculture and is normally not available in less than 12 – 24 hours. During growth bacteria produce specific volatile compounds (VOC).

Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS)-a chemical separation technique using an electrostatic field
Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003The author describes a chemical sensing and discrimination technique called ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), which separates ionic species in a chemical vapor by their mobility in an electrostatic field. An advantage of IMS over other techniques is speed of response.

[Photoionization ion mobility spectrometry (UV-IMS) for the isomeric volatile organic compounds].
Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2015The construction and performance study is reported for a newly developed ultraviolet photoionization ion mobility spectrometry (UV-IMS). In the present paper, an UV-IMS technique was firstly developed to detect eleven isomeric volatile organic compounds including the differences in the structure of carbon chain, the style of function group and the ...

Laser Ionization Detection (LID) and Photoemissive (PE) Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) Development
2001Abstract : Significant advances are reported in the detection of trace analytes in ambient air by laser ionization detection and photoemissive ion mobility spectrometry. A numerical model was developed that describes the behavior of laser-produced ions in an applied electric field and the subsequent induced current flow in an external detection circuit
