An overview of negative hydrogen ion sources for accelerators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
An overview of high current (>1 mA) negative hydrogen ion (H ^– ) sources that are currently used on particle accelerators. The current understanding of how H ^– ions are produced is summarised. Issues relating to caesium usage are explored.

Note: Development of ESS Bilbao's proton ion source: Ion Source Hydrogen Positive

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2014
The Ion Source Hydrogen positive is a 2.7 GHz off-resonance microwave discharge ion source. It uses four coils to generate an axial magnetic field in the plasma chamber around 0.1 T that exceeds the ECR resonance field. A new magnetic system was designed as a combination of the four coils and soft iron in order to increase the reliability of the source.

Interferometric measurement of resonance transition wavelengths in C IV, Si IV, Al III, Al II, and Si II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We have made the first interferomeric measurements of the wavelengths of the important ultraviolet diagnostic lines in the spectra \ion{C}{4} near 155 nm and \ion{Si}{4} near 139 nm with a vacuum ultraviolet Fourier transform spectrometer and high ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Broadband, unpolarized repumping and clearout light sources for Sr$^+$ single-ion clocks

open access: yes, 2015
Future transportable optical clocks require compact and reliable light sources. Here, broadband, unpolarized repumper and state clearout sources for Sr+ single-ion optical clocks are reported. These turn-key devices require no frequency stabilization nor

Ion mobility spectrometry: history, characteristics and applications

open access: yesRevista U.D.C.A Actualidad & Divulgación Científica, 2012
Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an analytical technique that separates ions in the gas phase. Ions are separated at atmospheric pressure under the influence of an electric field, according to their size and shape.

Imaging of Sources in Heavy-Ion Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Imaging of sources from data within the intensity interferometry is discussed. In the two-pion case, the relative pion source function may be determined through the Fourier transformation of the correlation function.
