Wide-Temperature Electrolytes for Lithium-Ion Batteries

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2017
Formulating electrolytes with solvents of low freezing points and high dielectric constants is a direct approach to extend the service-temperature range of lithium (Li)-ion batteries (LIBs). In this study, we report such wide-temperature electrolyte formulations by optimizing the ethylene carbonate (EC) content in the ternary solvent system of EC ...

Low-Temperature-Sensitivity Materials for Low-Temperature Lithium-Ion Batteries

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
High-energy low-temperature lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) play an important role in promoting the application of renewable energy storage in national defense construction, including deep-sea operations, civil and military applications, and space missions. Sn-based materials show intrinsic low-temperature-sensitivity properties and promising applications

Ion-temperature-gradient-driven modes in bi-ion magnetoplasma

Physica Scripta, 2008
The toroidal ion-temperature-gradient (ITG)-driven electrostatic drift waves are investigated for bi-ion plasmas with equilibrium density, temperature and magnetic field gradients. Using Braginskii's transport equations for the ions and Boltzmann distributed electrons, the mode coupling equations are derived.

Ion-acoustic solitons in plasmas with two-temperature ions

Physics of Plasmas, 2008
This paper discusses the existence of ion-acoustic solitons in a plasma consisting of hot and cool ions, and hot electrons, where the words “hot” and “cool” reflect the ratio of thermal effects to inertial effects. For the hot species general polytropic pressure relations are considered, as well as the isothermal limit, γ=1 (Boltzmann distribution). It

Boundary ion temperatures and ion orbit losses in JET

Nuclear Fusion, 1991
Ion and electron temperatures of up to 5 keV have been obtained within 10 cm of the last closed flux surface (LCFS) in hot ion H-modes with 18 MW of neutral beam heating. The ion temperature profiles appear to have 'pedestals' which scale with power per particle, T(i)(a) less-than-or-similar-to P(a)/n(e)(0.9a) [keV, MW/10(19) m-3], in H-modes.

Hypochlorite Ion Decomposition:  Effects of Temperature, Ionic Strength, and Chloride Ion

Inorganic Chemistry, 1999
The effects of pH, hypochlorite and chloride ion concentration, temperature, and ionic strength on the kinetics and mechanism of decomposition of concentrated hypochlorite ion and the formation of chlorate ion and oxygen in the pH 9-14 region has been investigated.

Low-Temperature Plasma Ionization Ion Mobility Spectrometry

Analytical Chemistry, 2010
In this research work, the capability of low-temperature plasma (LTP) as an ionization source for ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has been investigated for the first time. This new ionization source enhances the potential of IMS as a portable analytical tool and allows direct analysis of various chemical compounds without having to evaporate the ...

Ion acoustic wave with finite ion temperature re-examined

Physica Scripta
Abstract We study linear and nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in an unmagnetized plasma to investigate the impact of finite ion temperature on their propagation characteristics. The linear dispersion relation shows that finite ion temperature introduces significant dispersive effects.
