The Evolution of Hot Flow Anomalies in Martian Space Environment

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract Hot Flow Anomalies (HFAs) are transient foreshock structures generated by solar wind discontinuity‐bow shock interactions, with their evolution only confirmed near Earth. Using MAVEN and Tianwen‐1 joint observations, we study the evolution of a Martian HFA event detected on 17 September 2022 (dayside by MAVEN, nightside by Tianwen‐1).

IONOSPHERIC DISTURBANCES OVER PRIMORSKY KRAI CAUSED BY THE ERUPTION OF THE HUNGA TONGA-HUNGA HA’APAI VOLCANO ON JANUARY 15, 2022

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика
The explosive eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapai volcano occured on January 15, 2022 at 04:02 UTC led to generation of covolcanic ionospheric disturbances that spread over long distances.

Investigation of MAGSAT and TRIAD magnetometer data to provide corrective information on high-lattitude external fields [PDF]

open access: yes
Disturbances in the MAGSAT magnetometer data set due to high latitude phenomena were evaluated. Much of the categorization of disturbances due to Birkeland currents, ionospheric Hall currents, fine structure and wave phenomena was done with the MAGSAT ...

Estimating traveling ionospheric disturbance propagation direction and speed using bistatic high-frequency oceanographic radars

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
The purpose of this investigation is to demonstrate how observations from a network of Coastal Ocean Dynamics Applications Radars (CODARs) can be used to derive the parameters of a traveling ionospheric disturbance (TID) in the mid-latitudes.

Ionospheric Disturbance Optimization

open access: yes
This paper proposes a heuristic optimization algorithm based on the mechanism of planetary ionospheric perturbations, namely the Ionospheric Disturbance Optimization (IDO) algorithm. This algorithm simulates the physical process of electron density perturbations in the planetary ionosphere, introduces local perturbations and propagation mechanisms, and
