Abstract We present an event based on Reimei satellite observations in the low‐altitude midnight auroral region, showing that intense and clear energy‐dispersed electron precipitations, repetitively generated by field‐aligned accelerations due to dispersive Alfvén waves, were modulating inverted‐V electrons.

Theoretical and experimental studies of space-related plasma wave propagation and resonance phenomena [PDF]
The testing and refinement of various ideas for space plasma experimentation on the spacelab are dealt with. Special attention was given to whistlers and Alfven wave excitation by electron and proton beams.

Large-scale Observations of a Subauroral Polarization Stream by Midlatitude SuperDARN Radars: Instantaneous Longitudinal Velocity Variations [PDF]
We present simultaneous measurements of flow velocities inside a subauroral polarization stream (SAPS) made by six midlatitude high-frequency SuperDARN radars.

Ground and Space-Based Measurement of Rocket Engine Burns in the Ionosphere [PDF]
On-orbit firings of both liquid and solid rocket motors provide localized disturbances to the plasma in the upper atmosphere. Large amounts of energy are deposited to ionosphere in the form of expanding exhaust vapors which change the composition and ...

Wave propagation and earth satellite radio emission studies [PDF]
Radio propagation studies of the ionosphere using satellite radio beacons are described. The ionosphere is known as a dispersive, inhomogeneous, irregular and sometimes even nonlinear medium. After traversing through the ionosphere the radio signal bears

Handbook for the estimation of microwave propagation effects: Link calculations for earth-space paths (path loss and noise estimation) [PDF]
A single model for a standard of comparison for other models when dealing with rain attenuation problems in system design and experimentation is proposed. Refinements to the Global Rain Production Model are incorporated.

Millstone Hill Thomson Scatter Results for 1972 [PDF]
During 1972, the vertically directed incoherent scatter radar at Millstone Hill (42.6°N, 71.5°W) was employed to measure electron density, electron and ion temperatures, and vertical ion velocity in the F-region over periods of 24 hours, one or two times
