PENICILLIN BY IONTOPHORESIS

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1946
To the Editor:— The subject of iontophoresis (ionization) of penicillin should be clarified, as there are references in the literature regarding the efficacy of this method of application (von Sallmann, Ludwig, and Meyer, Karl: Penetration of Penicillin into the Eye,Arch. Ophth.31:1 [Jan.] 1944. Dunnington, J.

IONTOPHORESIS OF GUANETHIDINE IN MAN

Australian Journal of Experimental Biology and Medical Science, 1964
SummaryIn a search for more efficient methods of treatment of peripheral vascular disease, the technique of iontophoresis of guanethidine into fingers of healthy male volunteers has been investigated. The effects of this drug on heat output in 10 subjects and on sympathetic vasoconstrictor reflexes in five subjects were measured by calorimetry ...

Transscleral Iontophoresis of Foscarnet

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1993
Current local treatments of cytomegalovirus retinopathy may result in serious intraocular complications. Using an animal model, we investigated transscleral iontophoresis as a technique for delivery of foscarnet to the vitreous. Using a probe tip surface area of 0.19 mm2, a current of 1 mA, and a duration of ten minutes, transscleral iontophoresis of 0.

Iontophoresis for Eyelid Anesthesia

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1990
ABSTRACT Local anesthesia is appropriate for eyelid surgery, but patients fear the pain of injections. We evaluated iontophoresis of lidocaine for eyelid skin anesthesia to pinprick pain sensation in normal subjects, and prior to regional infiltration of the anesthetic agent in patients undergoing eyelid surgery.

Quantification of angiotensin iontophoresis

Journal of Neuroscience Methods, 1987
A method of value for studying the effects of angiotensin II (AII) and angiotensin III (AIII) on the brain is microiontophoresis combined with single unit recording. The purpose of this study was to quantitate the release of angiotensins under various experimental conditions thus providing a firm basis for the iontophoretic application of angiotensins.

A Fresh Look at Iontophoresis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984
The rate of penetration of fluorescein and gentamicin ions into the anterior chamber of the rabbit was increased more than 100-fold by the passage of 1 mamp; the amount of drug that penetrates is better controlled by iontophoresis than by instillation.

Iontophoresis: electrorepulsion and electroosmosis

Journal of Controlled Release, 2000
Over the last 10-15 years, the electrical enhancement of drug delivery across the skin has undergone intense investigation. During this period, considerable amounts of experimental data have been generated, and the successful enhancement of a diverse array of molecules has been achieved.

Transscleral Iontophoresis of Dexamethasone

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1989
Transscleral iontophoresis has been suggested to be a potentially useful noninvasive technique in intravitreal introduction of ionizable drugs, such as cefazolin sodium, ticarcillin disodium, and gentamicin sulfate. To investigate the usefulness of this technique in the administration of corticosteroids, we performed transscleral iontophoresis of ...
