4W1H in IoT Semantics

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
IoT systems are now being deployed worldwide to sense phenomena of interest. The existing IoT systems are often independent, which limits the use of sensor data to only one application. Semantic solutions have been proposed to support the reuse of sensor data across IoT systems and applications.

Mapping the Values of IoT [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Information Technology, 2018
We investigate the emerging meanings of “value” associated with the Internet of Things. Given the current political economy, we argue that the multiple meanings of “value” cannot be reduced to a single domain or discipline, but rather they are invariably articulated at the juxtaposition of three domains: social, economic, and technical.

Enhancing Indoor Photovoltaic Efficiency to 37.6% Through Triple Passivation Reassembly and n‐Type to p‐Type Modulation in Wide Bandgap Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Triple Passivation Treatment (TPT) strategy enables 1.75 eV wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WB‐PSCs) with suppressed halide phase segregation and n‐to‐p type surface transition. The photoluminescence quantum yield increases from 0.5 to 2.1%, indicating reduced non‐radiative losses.

IoT2Vec: Identification of Similar IoT Devices via Activity Footprints

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a smart home or smart office environment with a number of IoT devices connected and passing data between one another. The footprints of the data transferred can provide valuable information about the devices, which can be used to (a) identify

High‐Performance Millimeter Scale Electromagnetic Generator

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance millimeter‐scale electromagnetic generator (mmEMG) is developed using magnetic flux concentrator (MFC) films on both coil ends to enhance magnetic flux. Through simulations and experiments, structural and magnetic properties are optimized, achieving a 5.6‐fold electrical output improvement.

Versatile Green Transfer of Magnetoelectronics with Loss‐Free Performance and High Adhesion for Interactive Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An environmentally friendly transfer printing method of nm‐thick giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensors is demonstrated. This method, relying on water and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer without the need of complex treatments, allows transferring thin films to a wide range of biological, organic, and inorganic substrates.
