IP geolocation in metropolitan areas [PDF]
Current IP geoloation techniques can geolocate an IP address to a region approximately 700 square miles, roughly the size of a metropolitan area. We model geolocation as a pattern-recognition problem, and introduce techniques that geolocate addresses to within 5 miles inside a metropolitan area.

MLAR:large-scale network alias resolution for IP geolocation
In order to accurately and efficiently perform alias resolution on interface IP and support IP geolocation,a large-scale network alias resolution algorithm (MLAR) was proposed.Based on the statistical differences in delays, paths,Whois, etc.between alias ...

On Improving the Accuracy of Internet Infrastructure Mapping
This study identifies a method to create fine-grained multilayer maps of the Internet’s structure, which are currently lacking. We begin with an investigation of current techniques for geolocating hosts using passive, active, and hybrid methods ...

SubvectorS_Geo: A Neural-Network-Based IPv6 Geolocation Algorithm
IPv6 geolocation is necessary for many location-based Internet services. However, the accuracy of the current IPv6 geolocation methods including machine-learning-based or deep-learning-based location algorithms are unsatisfactory for users.

A Landmark Calibration Based IP Geolocation Approach [PDF]
Aiming at the existing IP geolocation approaches does not consider the errors of landmarks and delay; a new geolocation approach-utilized landmark calibration is proposed in this paper. At first, we find out these landmarks shared the nearest common router with a target IP by path detection; second, a deviation is assigned to each related landmark ...

Delay-distance correlation study for IP geolocation [PDF]
Although many classical IP geolocation algorithms are suitable to rich-connected networks, their performances are seriously affected in poor-connected networks with weak delay-distance correlation. This paper tries to improve the performances of classical IP geolocation algorithms by finding rich-connected sub-networks inside poor-connected networks ...

GPS-Based Geolocation of Consumer IP Addresses
This paper uses two commercial datasets of IP addresses from smartphones, geolocated through the Global Positioning System (GPS), to characterize the geography of IP address subnets from mobile and broadband ISPs. Datasets that ge olocate IP addresses based on GPS offer superlative accuracy and precision for IP geolocation and thus provide an ...

Finding and Analyzing Evil Cities on the Internet [PDF]
IP Geolocation is used to determine the geographical location of Internet users based on their IP addresses. When it comes to security, most of the traditional geolocation analysis is performed at country level.

The most widely used technique for IP geolocation consists in building a database to keep the mapping between IP blocks and a geographic location. Several databases are available and are frequently used by many services and web sites in the Internet. Contrary to widespread belief, geolocation databases are far from being as reliable as they claim.
