Fractal Modeling of IP Network Traffic at Streaming Speeds
22nd International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE'06), 2006This paper describes how to fit fractal models, online, on IP traffic data streams. Our approach relies on maintaining a sketch of the data stream and fitting straight lines: it yields algorithms that are fast, space-efficient, and accurate. We implemented our methods in AT&Ts Gigascope data stream management system, to demonstrate their practicality ...

Evaluation of Erlang models in IP network
2011 9th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA), 2011Our paper deals with utilization and examination of Erlang traffic theory in asynchronous networks based on IP technology. We have proposed test network model with video traffic source. The obtained results have been compared with calculations performed in Matlab environment. We have aimed to loss parameter in our comparisons.

Network measurement based modeling and optimization for IP geolocation
Computer Networks, 2012IP geolocation plays a critical role in location-aware network services and network security applications. Commercially deployed IP geolocation databases may provide outdated or incorrect location of Internet hosts due to slow record updates and dynamic IP address assignment by the ISPs.

Mean bandwidth allocation model of WRR for IP networks
2012 35th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2012We present a new iterative mathematical model for calculating the average bandwidth assigned to traffic flows using a WRR scheduler in IP based NGN networks. The bandwidth assignment estimation is based on the average packet length, link speed and the arrival rate. We prove the model outcome with examples and simulation results using NS2 simulator.

Node-Oriented Modeling and Simulation of IP Networks
14th Annual IEEE International Conference and Workshops on the Engineering of Computer-Based Systems (ECBS'07), 2007IP networks consist of autonomous nodes that perform routers' and hosts' functionalities. Based on this fact, this paper proposes a node-oriented IP network model and a new packet-level and stochastic discrete event-driven simulator - Visualized IP Network Simulator. The XML is used to encode node and network topology for scenario. Each individual node

Analyzing and Modeling Workload Characteristics in a Multiservice IP Network
IEEE Internet Computing, 2011As multimedia Internet applications become pervasive, the characteristics of Internet Protocol (IP) traffic are changing. Workload characterization is crucial in IP traffic engineering to deploy an efficient network. However, traffic characteristics in commercial multiservice IP networks aren't well known because relevant datasets are rarely available.

Modeling and analyses of IP spoofing attack in 6LoWPAN network
Computers & Security, 2017Abstract 6LoWPAN (modified version of IPv6 for low power devices) inherits security threats from its predecessor protocols, IPv4 and IPv6. IP spoofing is one such classic attack. There are vulnerabilities in 6LoWPAN and associated routing protocol, which open up new spoofing paths to the attacker. This study aims at profiling the feasibility to carry

Characterization and modeling of campus-level IP network traffic
2003 International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME '03. Proceedings (Cat. No.03TH8698), 2003The behavior of IP based network traffic has been the subject of several works. In this paper, we compare two modeling approaches and their ability to capture two basic traffic features: packet size distribution and interarrival times. Data traces were measured at the border gateway of the campus network of the University of Pavia at different times of

Credibility and Validation of Simulation Models for Tactical IP Networks
MILCOM 2006, 2006The task of TNO is to provide predictions of the scalability and performance of the new all-IP tactical networks of the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) that are likely to be fielded. The inherent properties of fielded tactical networks, such as low bandwidth and quality of service (QoS) policies require models of the key tactical network devices that ...
