Mobility and security in IP network
The 13th IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2003Mechanisms for security and quality of service (QoS) used in fixed networks cannot be adapted for mobile networks. The mobility of users makes problems in authentication and QoS conservation during handoffs. We focus on the management of security and QoS for user mobility.

Existing technologies, including frame relay and ATM, can be used to create virtual private networks (VPNs) over a shared infrastructure. However, two new technologies, tag switching and IP security, may be used to create IP VPNs that are independent of the access network and the core technology. This paper examines these technologies, compares them to

Traffic measurement in IP networks
2004 IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37507), 2004Summary form only given. Traffic measurement in the Internet, particularly traffic flow measurement, is an area of rapid growth in recent years, although the issue is not new at all. But many tools have been developed and methodology and technologies have been improved significantly. This tutorial gives an overview of methods, technologies and existing

IP Traceback in Dynamic Networks
2019IP traceback or identifying an attacker is an important step for post analysis of denial of service (DoS) attacks. In this work, we present techniques to traceback in networks with dynamic topology. We consider network scenarios where edges/nodes may get added or deleted in the attack path during the process of traceback.

IP-networked multimedia conferencing
IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2000This article looks at video conferencing, specifically the VideoTalks system developed by AT&T Labs. This system was designed to alleviate some of the problems of both user experience and audiovisual signal quality. It allows talks and presentations generated in one auditorium or conference room to be received in other conference rooms, multicast to ...

Anomaly detection in IP networks
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2003Network anomaly detection is a vibrant research area. Researchers have approached this problem using various techniques such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and state machine modeling. In this paper, we first review these anomaly detection methods and then describe in detail a statistical signal processing technique based on abrupt change

Micro mobility in the IP networks
Telecommunication Systems, 2006Wireless access to Internet services will become typical, rather than the exception as it is today. Such a vision presents great demands on mobile networks. Mobile IP represents a simple and scalable global mobility solution but lacks the support for fast handoff control and paging found in cellular telephony networks.

CODED IP: On the Feasibility of IP-Layer Network Coding
2008 Proceedings of 17th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks, 2008Nowadays, the real practice of network coding in wireline networks is focused on the P2P overlay networks. Although it can help to utilize network resources more efficiently, P2P network coding does not exhibit benefits in terms of the maximum throughput. Our work aims to implement network coding at the IP layer, which is an idea not fundamentally new,

The PacketStar6400 IP switch - An IP switch for the converged network
Bell Labs Technical Journal, 1998With the transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure, the ability to provide customer-specific and differentiated services has become as important as the ability to meet the massive increases in bandwidth demand. Internet service providers would also like to provide Internet protocol (IP)-based virtual private network (VPN) services

Distributed network monitoring for evolving IP networks
24th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, 2004. Proceedings., 2004Evolving monitoring infrastructure in response to network growth is a critical aspect of network management. Previous work in network management primarily focused on optimizing monitoring systems for static networks. In this paper, we address the problem of optimally upgrading the existing monitoring infrastructure as the network evolves.
