Some empirical correlations between the thermodynamic properties of hydrogen cyanide, water and acetylene molecules and their infrared spectra [PDF]

open access: yesTrakia Journal of Sciences, 2018
A new method for calculating vibrational modes in the infrared region of the spectrum is proposed. The method is based on the thermodynamic parameters of the molecules- standard molar Gibbs free energy change of molecular formation ΔGf0 (kJ/mol ...

Optical spectrum of the IR-source IRC+10420 in 1992-1996 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
To understand the evolutionary stage of the peculiar supergiant IRC+10420, we have been taking spectra for several years at the 6m telescope. The optical spectrum of IRC+10420 of the years from 1992 through 1996 points to the increase in the temperature:

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Far-IR spectroscopy towards Sagittarius B2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The far-IR is a unique wavelength range for Astrophysical studies, however, it can only be fully sampled from space platforms. The fundamental rotational transitions of light molecules, the high-J transitions of polyatomic species, the bending modes of ...

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

The practice of the zircon typomorphism studies using IR microscopy as applied to forecasting and prospecting for base and precious metals deposits

open access: yesРуды и металлы
A potential effectiveness of IR microscopy in application to forecasting and prospecting for base and precious metals deposits is demonstrated on examples of studying zircon crystals collected at the Mechiveem area (Okhotsk-Chukotka volcanoplutonic belt),

Effective holographic models for QCD: glueball spectrum and trace anomaly

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate effective holographic models for QCD arising from five dimensional Dilaton-Gravity. The models are characterized by a dilaton with a mass term in the UV, dual to a CFT deformation by a relevant operator, and quadratic in the IR.

Chemical and structural characterization of fibrous richterite with high environmental and health relevance from Libby, Montana (USA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study reports new structural and spectroscopic data of a sample of fibrous richterite from Libby, Montana (USA). The OH-stretching region was investigated by FT-IR. The spectrum showed, except for the typical absorption band at 3671 cm-1 assigned to

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

IR spectra of porous silicon based nanocomposites

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Photonics & Engineering, 2019
The article is devoted to the problem of using porous silicon  (por-Si) as a biomaterial. IR spectroscopy was used to study the composition of por-Si samples and nanocomposites: por-Si with hydroxyapatite, promising as a biomaterial for osteoplasty and ...
