SURVEYING FOR RANAVIRUS IN GREEN FROGS (LITHOBATES CLAMITANS) AT FIVE LOCATIONS IN INDIANA [PDF]
Ranaviruses are an emerging pathogen within the United States that infects amphibians, reptiles, and fish. A Frog Virus 3-like (FV3) ranavirus has been detected at only two locations in Indiana; however, there have been few attempts to broadly sample for

AbstractEuropean North Atlantic ranavirus (ENARV,Iridoviridae), is a ranavirus species recently isolated from lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus, L.), which are used as cleaner fish in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) farming in Northern Europe. This study aimed to investigate (1) the virulence of ENARV isolates from Ireland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands to ...

Invertebrate Iridoviruses: A Glance over the Last Decade
Members of the family Iridoviridae (iridovirids) are large dsDNA viruses that infect both invertebrate and vertebrate ectotherms and whose symptoms range in severity from minor reductions in host fitness to systemic disease and large-scale mortality ...

Global Warming Affects the Pathogenesis of Important Fish Diseases in European Aquaculture
The effect of global warming on pathogens and their fish hosts that could exacerbate the negative outcomes for aquaculture. Changes in farming practices and the development of innovative mitigation tools may prove essential to cope with the effects and impacts of rising water temperatures on fish diseases in Europe.

Comparative study of ranavirus isolates from cod (Gadus morhua) and turbot (Psetta maxima) with reference to other ranaviruses [PDF]
Two iridovirus isolates recovered from cod (Gadus morhua) and turbot (Psetta maxima) in Denmark were examined in parallel with a panel of other ranaviruses including frog virus 3 (FV3), the reference strain for the genus Ranavirus.

Genomic Sequence of a Ranavirus Isolated from Pike-Perch Sander lucioperca [PDF]
The pike-perch iridovirus (PPIV) was isolated in Finland from apparently healthy pike-perch fingerlings during routine disease surveillance. Our phylogenomic analysis revealed that PPIV is the first fish member of a clade of ranaviruses previously ...

Ectoparasites found on bats are known to contain important microbes. However, the viruses hosted by these obligate parasites are understudied. This has led to the near oversight of the potential role of these ectoparasites in virus maintenance and ...

A diverse reagent‐associated virome, including parvoviruses, misleads zoonotic surveillance. By leveraging large language models (ChatGPT‐4o), we construct a virus discovery data framework (PVDDC) and ParvoDB to access and correct host misattributions, thereby enhancing the accuracy of metagenomic surveillance for emerging zoonotic diseases.

Sequence analysis and genomic organization of Aphid lethal paralysis virus: a new member of the family Dicistroviridae [PDF]
The complete nucleotide sequence of the genomic RNA of an aphid-infecting virus, Aphid lethal paralysis virus (ALPV), has been determined. The genome is 9812 nt in length and contains two long open reading frames (ORFs), which are separated by an ...

Amphibians exhibit diverse responses to environmental challenges, but their responses to infection risk remain poorly understood. This study investigates how the presence of ranavirus, a deadly viral pathogen, affects growth, development, and resource ...
