The Resistance of the Tissue of the Iris and the Form of the Iris

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1957
The resistance of an elastic membrane to a pressure acting on its surfaces depends on the primary resistance of the membrane and on its stretching. By stretching the resistance increases and the bulging produced by a pressure is reduced; by relaxation the resistance decreases and the bulging produced by a pressure is increased.

An Iris Segmentation Procedure for Iris Recognition

2004
Iris segmentation is a critical stage in the whole iris recognition process In this paper, a procedure of iris segmentation is presented which was designed on the basis of the natural properties of the iris The proposed procedure consists of two main steps: circles localization and non-iris region detection In our method, we took into consideration of ...

Iris Melanomas

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1985
Most iris tumors behave benignly, reflecting their small size and the high proportion of nevi and spindle A melanomas. Of 1,043 reported iris melanomas, 31 metastasized (3%). Metastasis from a spindle A melanoma is not known to occur despite documented growth and local recurrence after excision.
