Eile Project: Art and Spatial Research UK/Irish Border (2016 – ongoing)

open access: yes, 2016
‘Eile’ (2016-ongoing) is a project by a place of their own (artist duo Dr Paula McCloskey and Dr Sam Vardy. http://hdl.handle.net/10545/623443), that investigates the UK/Irish border and its complex entanglements of colonialism, border-imperialism and ...

V2CTx MXene as a Sacrificial Promoter for NiFe Catalyst for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings demonstrate that V2CTx functions beyond passive conductive support as an active electronic participant whose structural legacy sustains durable performance even after vanadium leaching in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolysers. ABSTRACT Nickel‐iron layered double hydroxides (NiFe‐LDH) show excellent activity, their poor conductivity

Interpretable Machine Learning Framework for Nb─Si Based Alloy Design with Enhanced Fracture Toughness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An interpretable machine learning framework integrating SHAP and PDP analysis identifies critical design descriptors from 139 physicochemical features for Nb─Si alloys. The framework achieves <7% prediction error and guides the discovery of Nb38.5Ti38.5Si3Zr18V2 alloy with 22.791 MPa·m1/2 fracture toughness, breaking the 20 MPa·m1/2 barrier.

Lest we remember? Recollection of the Boer War and Great War in Ireland

open access: yesE-REA, 2012
Recalled memories are recalled from somewhere, and usually for some specific reason. After a generation of forgetting, Irish history has recalled the First World War and the participation of thousands of Irishmen in the service of the British Army.

Cross-border paradiplomacy in the Irish Sea: A socio-spatial analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Bilateral relations between the UK devolved administrations and Ireland are a neglected aspect of the ‘totality of relationships’ among the people of these islands. This is especially true for relations between Ireland and Wales.

Sub‐Terahertz Memristor Switches Using MoS2 by Liquid–Liquid Interface Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces application‐ready sub‐terahertz memristor switches fabricated from electrochemically exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets assembled at a liquid–liquid interface. The devices exhibit robust unipolar resistive switching, low insertion loss, and high isolation across 10–110 GHz.

Bicycles, ‘Barrows, and Donkeys: Pinning a Tale on the Irish Border [PDF]

open access: yesFolklore, 2018
A popular smuggling story still told in Ireland concerns a man who crossed the border every day, either on a bicycle or wheeling a wheelbarrow, and usually carrying some sort of load; hay, turf, potatoes, or vegetables—goods that were free from customs duty.

De Novo Design of Membrane‐Targeting Antimicrobial Peptides Against Gram‐Negative Bacteria Using a Generative Artificial Intelligence Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial resistance caused by Gram‐negative bacteria remains difficult to overcome due to the protective outer membrane. To address this challenge, a multi‐condition constrained generative AI framework, GenMTAMP is proposed for de novo membrane‐targeting antimicrobial peptide design by integrating physicochemical and spatial structure descriptors.
