Nitriding of iron boride to hexagonal boron nitride
Journal of Materials Science, 2000A process for preparing hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) from iron boride (FeB) has been described for the first time. FeB powder was nitrided in ammonia at 700 K for 24 hours yielding non-crystalline BN and ζ-Fe2N. Subsequent annealing in ammonia for 1 hour at 1273 K resulted in a mixture of crystalline h-BN together with α-Fe, e-Fe3N and γ′-Fe4N.

Iron Boride Coatings Produced by Cold Spray Processes
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2011Abstract Iron based coatings have recently gained much attention as they have favorable mechanical, frictional, and corrosion properties. The coatings possessed a high content of iron borides are particularly valuable for satisfying engineering needs.

Magnetic domains in cobalt and iron borides
Journal of Applied Physics, 1981Using Kerr and Bitter techniques, magnetic domain patterns have been studied in various cobalt, iron, and cobalt-iron borides prepared by chill casting, directional solidification, and melt-spinning. Magnetic symmetries and metallurgical stability of the phases are discussed.

Magnetic Domain Structure of Cobalt and Iron Borides
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 2018The method of slow cooling from melting temperature is used to obtain coarse-grain ingots of (FexCo1 – x)2B with columnar structure. It is shown that at room temperature the configuration of the domain structure of the specimens of (FexCo1 – x)2B corresponds to magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) of different types.

Growth kinetics of iron boride layers: Dimensional analysis
Applied Surface Science, 2006Abstract Dimensional analysis is presented as a powerful tool in the study of the paste boriding process. In particular, a dimensional method is used to study the growth kinetics of the boride layers FeB and Fe2B. Experiments were performed in AISI 1045 steel and AISI M2 steel, to test the suggested model.

Processing iron-aluminide composites containing carbides or borides
JOM, 1997Iron-aluminide composites containing 30–90 vol. % carbides or borides can be processed to near full density (greater than 97% theoretical density). This wide range of ceramic contents enables the tailoring of the composite properties to a variety of applications requiring a combination of the corrosion and oxidation resistance of iron aluminides and ...
