Interactions between Magnetic Nanowires and Living Cells : Uptake, Toxicity and Degradation

open access: yes, 2011
We report on the uptake, toxicity and degradation of magnetic nanowires by NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblasts. Magnetic nanowires of diameters 200 nm and lengths comprised between 1 {\mu}m and 40 {\mu}m are fabricated by controlled assembly of iron oxide ({\gamma}

Washing effect on superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
Much recent research on nanoparticles has occurred in the biomedical area, particularly in the area of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs); one such area of research is in their use as magnetically directed prodrugs. It has been reported that nanoscale materials exhibit properties different from those of materials in bulk or on a macro ...

Continuous‐Flow Photocatalytic Degradation of Glyphosate and Aminomethylphosphonic Acid Under Simulated Sunlight with TiO2‐Coated Poly(vinylidene fluoride) Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Glyphosate (GLY) and its primary metabolite, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), are photodegraded using a poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane with immobilized titanium dioxide (PVDF‐TiO2) in a continuous flow‐through operation under solar light. At optimized conditions, the PVDF‐TiO2 membrane achieved 95% GLY and 80% AMPA removal with •O2− as the ...

Anticancer studies of drug encapsulated polyethylene terephthalate-Co-polylactic acid nanocapsules

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2011
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the anticancer activity of anticancer drugs (5-fluorouracil and 6-thioguanine) in polymeric nanocapsules in the presence and in the absence of gold and iron oxide nanoparticles toward Hep2 cancer ...

Ultrasound assisted phytosynthesis of iron oxide nanoparticle

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2017
The present work deals with the ultrasound assisted green synthesis of iron oxide nano particle using Coriandrum sativum leaf extract as a reducing agent. The synthesized iron oxide nanoparticle was confirmed by UV spectra. The characterization was done to know more about morphology and size of the particle by SEM analysis which shows spherical ...

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister
