Sintering Behaviour, Graded Microstructure and Corrosion Performance of Sintered Fe-Mn Biomaterials
This article discusses the corrosion of sintered Fe-Mn alloys, as influenced by spatial variability in microstructure and composition. Materials of interest were manufactured by mixing an iron powder with 25, 30 and 35wt.% of manganese powder, pressing ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Effects of Magnetic Powder Filling Ratio on the Characteristics of a Magnetic Composite Core Motor
Magnetic-composite materials, comprising soft magnetic powder and a resin binder, are characterized by excellent machinability and low iron loss. Motors with stator cores made of magnetic-composite materials (magnetic composite core (MCC) motors) can ...

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

A soft magnetic material for power supply systems of high energy physics experiments
Most of the high energy physics experiments require their detectors to be embedded in a high intensity magnetic field. In particular the biggest of them, ATLAS, running in the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator, generates a field of 2 ...

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...
