The internal reduction of high-grade granular hematite ore in hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and also the internal oxidation of porous iron granules in CO2-CO mixtures have been investigated. To assist the interpretation of the rate data for porous iron and iron oxides, rate measurements have been made also with dense wustite, previously grown on iron ...

Iron-Mediated Hydrazine Reduction and the Formation of Iron-Arylimide Heterocubanes
Inorganic Chemistry, 2011The reaction of Fe(N{SiMe(3)}(2))(2) (1) with 1 equiv of arylthiol (ArSH) results in material of notional composition Fe(SAr)(N{SiMe(3)}(2)) (2), from which crystalline Fe(2)(μ-SAr)(2)(N{SiMe(3)}(2))(2)(THF)(2) (Ar = Mes) can be isolated from tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent.

Iron-chelating agents and the reductive removal of iron from transferrin
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1980Abstract 2-Formylpyridine thiosemicarbazone, a strong iron (II) and iron(III)-chelating agent, removed iron from transferrin only under reductive conditions. The reaction required a bicarbonate-labilizing anion such as nitrilotriacetate in order for reduction and release of iron to the thiosemicarbazone to occur.

Reductive denitrification using zero‐valent iron and bimetallic iron
Environmental Technology, 2009A study of reductive denitrification of nitrate was conducted. Microscale zero-valent iron (ZVI) and palladium-coated iron (Pd/Fe) were used in the reduction of nitrate with variable pH. The solution pH was controlled by an auto controlling system instead of chemical buffers.

Research of Iron Reduction and the Iron Reductase Localization of Anammox Bacteria
Current Microbiology, 2014The iron-reducing capability of anammox bacteria was examined in this study using Percoll purified anammox bacteria. Anammox bacteria could reduce Fe(III) to Fe(II) with organic matters as the electron donor. The activity of anammox iron-reducing process was dependent on different electron donor, acceptor and pH.

Iron Promoted Reduction of Chromate by Dissimilatory Iron-Reducing Bacteria
Environmental Science & Technology, 2000Chromate is a priority pollutant within the U.S. and many other countries, the hazard of which can be mitigated by reduction to the trivalent form of chromium. Here we elucidate the reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) via a closely coupled, biotic-abiotic reductive pathway under iron-reducing conditions.

A note on the reduction in the iron content of meat in relation to iron deficiency
Meat Science, 1977The blood haemoglobin concentration, serum iron levels and muscle iron content of cattle, pigs, lambs and chickens were determined at the time of slaughter. There was a marked reduction in the iron content of pork, beef and chicken when compared with the figures quoted by McCance & widdowson (1960).
