In vitro expansion affects the response of human bone marrow stromal cells to irradiation
Background Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) are extensively used in regeneration therapy and cytology experiments simulate how BMSCs respond to radiation.

Raman spectral analysis of the brainstem and responses of neuroglia and cytokines in whole-body gamma-irradiated rats after administration of aminothiol-based radioprotector GL2011 [PDF]
The search for an effective and non-toxic radioprotector is ongoing. We tested a novel, natural aminothiol-based radioprotector, GL2011, that was applied 30 min, 3 h or 6 h after the exposure of male albino Wistar rats to a 6.7 Gy mild dose of gamma ...

Plasticity in irradiated FeCrAl nanopillars investigated using discrete dislocation dynamics [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate plasticity in irradiated FeCrAl nanopillars using discrete dislocation dynamics simulations (DDD), with comparisons to transmission electron microscopic (TEM) in situ tensile tests of ion and neutron irradiated commercial FeCrAl alloy C35M.

Impact of 700keV Ni++ ion irradiation on structural and optical properties of GaN [PDF]
In this paper, we present the effects of high-energy Ni++ ion irradiation on the structural and optical properties of GaN films. Three different irradiation doses of 1013, 1014, and 1015 ions/cm2 were used while keeping the ion energy at 700keV. The irradiation induced structural and optical changes in GaN films were measured using X-ray diffraction ...

Effects of Irradiation Temperature and Dose Rate on the Mechanical Properties of Self-Ion Implanted Fe and Fe-Cr Alloys [PDF]
Pure Fe and model Fe-Cr alloys containing 5, 10 and 14%Cr were irradiated with Fe+ ions at a maximum energy of 2MeV to the same dose of 0.6dpa at temperatures of 300 C, 400 C and 500 C, and at dose rates corresponding to 6 x 10-4 dpa/s and 3 x 10-5 dpa/s. All materials exhibited an increase in hardness after irradiation at 300 C.

Saturation of ion irradiation effects in Cr2AlC [PDF]
Cr2AlC materials were irradiated with 7 MeV Xe26+ ions and 500 keV He2+ ions at room temperature. A structural transition with an increased c lattice parameter and a decreased a lattice parameter occurs after irradiation to doses above 1 dpa. Nevertheless, the modified structure is stable up to the dose of 5.2 dpa without obvious lattice disorder.
