Orbital and Collisional Evolution of the Irregular Satellites [PDF]
The irregular moons of the Jovian planets are a puzzling part of the solar system inventory. Unlike regular satellites, the irregular moons revolve around planets at large distances in tilted and eccentric orbits. Their origin, which is intimately linked with the origin of the planets themselves, is yet to be explained.

Cats and Dogs, Hair and A Hero: A Quintet of New Milky Way Companions [PDF]
We present five new satellites of the Milky Way discovered in Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) imaging data, four of which were followed-up with either the Subaru or the Isaac Newton Telescopes. They include four probable new dwarf galaxies -- one each in

This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Semi-analytical orbital model around an oblate body with an inclined eccentric perturber
The semi-analytical model (based on the averaging technique) for long-term orbital evolution has proven to be useful in both astrophysical and astrodynamical contexts.

Since the 1980's it has been becoming increasingly clear that the Solar System's irregular satellites are collisionally evolved. We derive a general model for the collisional evolution of an irregular satellite swarm and apply it to the Solar System and ...

Light curves and colours of the faint Uranian irregular satellites Sycorax, Prospero, Stephano, Setebos and Trinculo [PDF]
After the work of Gladman et al. (1998), it is now assessed that many irregular satellites are orbiting around Uranus. Despite many studies have been performed in past years, very few is know for the light-curves of these objects and inconsistencies are ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Irregular Moons Possibly Injected from the Outer Solar System by a Stellar Flyby
The irregular moons orbit the giant planets on distant, inclined, and eccentric trajectories, in sharp contrast with the coplanar and quasicircular orbits of the regular moons.

Collisional Origin of Families of Irregular Satellites
A distinctive feature of the irregular moons of the giant planets is their orbital grouping. Previously, the prograde and retrograde groups of irregular moons at Jupiter were believed to be groups of fragments produced by the disruption of two large moons.
