Frequency and amount of irrigation for maize in western Nigeria
Agricultural Water Management, 1979Abstract This study was designed to investigate the frequency and amount of irrigation needed for maize in western Nigeria. The investigation indicated that about 330 mm of water either from irrigation or from well distributed rainfall is sufficient to produce a good crop of maize utilizing an irrigation frequency of 7 days.

Irrigation water amount and salinity dictate nitrogen requirement
Agricultural Water Management, 2015Abstract Crop relative yield (RY) may be reduced by matric water potential or salinity stresses but also by nitrogen (N) deficiency. Elucidation of interactions among these factors through modeling using the ENVIRO-GRO program to compute RY and N leaching from the root zone for corn (Zea mays) was our objective.

A Method of Determining, on the Farm, the Amount of Water and the Frequency of Irrigation
1973At a time when world water economy and intensive cropping are becoming a necessity, the determination of the amount of water and the frequency of irrigation should be rendered completely manageable by the farmer himself regardless of the size and the specific needs of his land and crops.

Water Flux Below the Root Zone vs. Irrigation Amount in Drip‐Irrigated Corn
Agronomy Journal, 1997AbstractWith increasing demands on water resources, greater efficiency is needed in irrigated agriculture. Internal drainage from the root zone is a loss that can be reduced or managed to improve irrigation efficiency. Our objective was to determine the relationship between seasonal water flux below the root zone (1.5 m) and irrigation amount with corn

Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) that has a wide application prospect is one of the high efficiency water-saving irrigation techniques. Research on regulation of soil-water dynamics in irrigation design parameters of SDI has important points in improving its irrigation design and guiding its practical function. In this study, soil wetting patterns were

Influence of Seasonal Irrigation Amount on Sugarbeet Yield and Quality
Journal of Sugarbeet Research, 1988Limited water supplies for irrigation on the Texas High Plains frequently result in sugarbeets (Beta vulgaris L.) being grown with irrigation amounts less than that re quired to fully satisfy evapotranspiration (En. This re search was conducted to determine the influence of sea sonal irrigation amount on sugarbeet yield, sucrose, water use ...

Influence of Amount and Method of Irrigation Water Application on Leaching of Atrazine
Journal of Environmental Quality, 1993AbstractA study was conducted to relate leaching of a herbicide, atrazine [6‐chloro‐N‐ethyl‐N′‐(1‐methylethyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine‐2,4,‐diamine], and inorganic water tracers, Br− and Cl−, to the amount of deep‐percolating water produced from irrigation. Soil at the site was classified as a Dehli Loamy Sand (Mixed, Thermic, Tepic Xeropsamment) which was an ...
