The Arkansas Irrigation Scheduler

World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2009, 2009
In the US Mid-South, annual rainfall is generally sufficient for limited crop production, but periods of drought during the growing season make irrigation essential for optimum yields. However, factors such as cloudy weather, rainfall, and temperature swings caused by the movement of weather fronts all complicate irrigation scheduling.

Simple Irrigation Scheduling Calendars

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1996
Simple calendars are described that express best dates of irrigation based on long-term weather data. The calendars are intended to promote ease and ready adaption of improved water management practices by farmers in both developed and developing countries by presenting simplified, nontechnical scheduling guidance.

DECISION SUPPORT FOR OPTIMISED IRRIGATION SCHEDULING

Acta Horticulturae, 2009
The system, developed under the FLOW-AID (an FP6 project), is a farm level water management system of special value in situations where the water availability and quality is limited. This market-ready precision irrigation management system features new models, hardware and software.

Optimal irrigation scheduling

2008
An optimal stochastic multi-crop irrigation scheduling algorithm was developed which was able to incorporate complex farm system models, and constraints on daily and seasonal water use, with the objective of maximising farm profit. This scheduling method included a complex farm simulation model in the objective function, used decision variables to ...

3. Irrigation scheduling

2007
Publisher Summary Irrigation scheduling generally determines the time of the next event and the amount of water to apply. For micro-irrigation this is the decision of when to start an irrigation cycle and how long to irrigate the zone or set. Scheduling micro-irrigation is inherently different from other irrigation methods, because the application ...

Improving irrigation management by modelling the irrigation schedule

Agricultural Water Management, 1988
Abstract Three different treatments on corn, grown in Egyptian soil with shallow water table, on a cracked clay-loam soil subjected to swelling and shrinking, and in soil with a shallow water table have been evaluated using the simulation model SWATRE.
