An Iridium Distannylidyne – Expanding the Scope of Tetrylidyne Transition Metal Coordination Chemistry

This work presents the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of an iridium distannylidyne as the first heavy transition metal ditetrylidyne. Characterized by its short Ir─Sn bonds and linear bonding angles at the tin atoms, this compound displays versatile reactivity toward carbon dioxide and trimethylsilyl azide.

A machine learning‐guided self‐driving laboratory screened over 500 nickel‐based layered double‐hydroxide catalysts for alkaline oxygen evolution. Out of the eight metals, the robot uncovered a quaternary Ni–Fe–Cr–Co catalysts requiring only 231 mV overpotential to reach 20 mA cm−2.

The Promise and Challenges of Ammonia Electrosynthesis From Dinitrogen and Water Using an Electrochemical Palladium Membrane

Electrosynthesis of ammonia from nitrogen gas and water at ambient temperature is demonstrated using a device equipped with an electrochemical palladium membrane, which provides exclusive selectivity for the transfer of protons between the aqueous water oxidation and non‐aqueous nitrogen reduction compartments.
