Genetic evaluation of IS900 partial sequence of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis Brazilian isolates from bovine milk

open access: yesTropical Animal Health and Production, 2012
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the causative agent of paratuberculosis. Insertion sequence IS900 is used for the identification of MAP. The objective of this study was to verify the genetic conservation of IS900 sequences in raw milk samples.

Fecal Detection of Mycobacterium avium Paratuberculosis Using the IS900 DNA Sequence in Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Patients and Healthy Subjects

open access: yesDigestive Diseases and Sciences, 2011
Despite the increasing evidence of MAP/DNA isolation in Crohn's disease (CD), its potential pathogenetic role remains unclear. To further clarify the possible relationship between MAP and CD, we investigated the presence of IS900 DNA fragment in feces from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (UC) patients and from healthy controls (HC).Stool samples

Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the IS900 sequence of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis are strain type specific.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2009
Insertion sequence IS900 is used as a target for the identification of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis. Previous reports have revealed single nucleotide polymorphisms within IS900.

IS900-promoted stable integration of a foreign gene into mycobacteria

Molecular Microbiology, 1991
SummaryAn artificial mycobacterial transposon was constructed by placing two copies of the insertion sequence IS900 flanking a kanamycin resistance gene into a non‐(mycobacterial) replicating vector. Constructs were introduced into mycobacteria by electroporation and transposition events conferring kanamycin resistance were selected.
