Interactive specification acquisition via scenarios: A proposal [PDF]

open access: yes
Some reactive systems are most naturally specified by giving large collections of behavior scenarios. These collections not only specify the behavior of the system, but also provide good test suites for validating the implemented system.

Influence of temperature fluctuations on plasma turbulence investigations with Langmuir probes

open access: yes, 2011
The reliability of Langmuir probe measurements for plasma-turbulence investigations is studied on GEMR gyro-fluid simulations and compared with results from conditionally sampled I-V characteristics as well as self-emitting probe measurements in the near

Sub-Doppler laser cooling of fermionic 40K atoms in three-dimensional gray optical molasses

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate sub-Doppler cooling of 40K on the D_1 atomic transition. Using a gray molasses scheme, we efficiently cool a compressed cloud of 6.5x10^8 atoms from ~ 4\mK to 20uK in 8 ms.

Superfluid motion and drag-force cancellation in a fluid of light

open access: yes, 2018
Quantum fluids of light merge many-body physics and nonlinear optics, through the study of light propagation in a nonlinear medium under the shine of quantum hydrodynamics. One of the most outstanding evidence of light behaving as an interacting fluid is

Improvement of radiation hardness for a novel InP-based HEMT with graded In1-xGaxAs channel layer and double Si-doped structure

open access: yesResults in Engineering
To enhance the radiation resistance of the InP-based HEMT, a novel structure incorporating a graded In1-xGaxAs channel layer and double Si-doped structure (DPLC-HEMT) is proposed.

Probing the light induced dipole-dipole interaction in momentum space

open access: yes, 2005
We theoretically investigate the mechanical effect of the light-induced dipole-dipole interaction potential on the atoms in a Bose-Einstein condensate. We present numerical calculations on the magnitude and shape of the induced potentials for different ...

High-order optical nonlinearity at low light levels

open access: yes, 2011
We observe a nonlinear optical process in a gas of cold atoms that simultaneously displays the largest reported fifth-order nonlinear susceptibility \chi^(5) = 1.9x10^{-12} (m/V)^4 and high transparency.

Durability Properties of Self Compacting Concrete containing Fly ash, Lime powder and Metakaolin

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2016
This paper investigates the durability properties of Self-compacting concrete (SCC), with different amounts of fly ash (FA), lime powder (LP) and metakaolin (MK).

Three-dimensional Doppler, polarization-gradient, and magneto-optical forces for atoms and molecules with dark states

open access: yes, 2017
We theoretically investigate the damping and trapping forces in a three-dimensional magneto-optical trap (MOT), by numerically solving the optical Bloch equations. We focus on the case where there are dark states because the atom is driven on a "type-II"
