Pathogenesis of ischemic mitral insufficiency

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1993
We developed a new animal model of ischemic mitral insufficiency in sheep and used it to test the hypothesis that the combination of posterior papillary muscle infarction and left ventricular dilatation was required to produce mitral regurgitation after acute inferior myocardial infarction of moderate size.

Modified Mitral Valve Repair with Its Insufficiency of Ischemic Genesis [PDF]

open access: yesSovremennye tehnologii v medicine, 2021
The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of modified mitral valve repair in comparison with traditional methods of correcting ischemic mitral regurgitation. The results of surgical treatment of 80 patients with coronary artery disease complicated by ischemic mitral regurgitation were analyzed.

The Condition of the Coronary Arteries in Patients with Ischemic Mitral Insufficiency

open access: yesUkrainian journal of cardiovascular surgery, 2020
Secondary (or functional) mitral regurgitation is the result of myocardial dysfunction due to ischemic injury with relatively normal cusps. In patients with ischemic mitral insufficiency, only surgical coronary artery bypass grafting can affect the reverse remodeling of the left ventricle and reduce the degree of mitral regurgitation.

SURGICAL TREATMENT OF MODERATE ISCHEMIC MITRAL INSUFFICIENCY

open access: yesMedical academic journal, 2013
Ischemic mitral regurgitation is a widespread mitral valve pathology associated with left ventricular remodeling due to coronary disease in patients with normal valvular anatomy. It’s incidence continues to rise together with the improvement in survival after myocardial infarction.

Transendocardial injection of expanded autologous CD34+ cells after myocardial infarction: Design of the EXCELLENT trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1455-1463, April 2025.
Abstract Aims The extent of irreversible cardiomyocyte necrosis after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major determinant of residual left ventricular (LV) function and clinical outcome. Cell therapy based on CD34+ cells has emerged as an option to help repair the myocardium and to improve outcomes.

Left atrial function in uraemic patients: Four‐dimensional automatic left atrial quantitative technology study

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1316-1325, April 2025.
Abstract Objective This study aimed to evaluate the utility of left atrial volume and function in uraemic patients using four‐dimensional automatic left atrial quantification (4D auto LAQ) technology. Methods Thirty‐four undialysed uraemic patients (U‐ND group), 60 dialysed uraemic patients (U‐D group), and 32 healthy volunteers (N group) were enrolled

Causal correlations between inflammatory proteins and heart failure: A two‐sample Mendelian randomization analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1374-1385, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Inflammation plays a critical role in both the development and progression of heart failure (HF), which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. However, the causality between specific inflammation‐related proteins and HF risk remains unclear.

Echocardiographic predictors of ischemic mitral insufficiency recurrence after mitral annuloplasty

open access: yesCardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology, 2018
The aim – to establish echocardiographic predictors of ischemic mitral insufficiency recurrence after surgical reduction annuloplasty of mitral valve (MV). Materials and methods. We assessed echocardiographic parameters of left ventricular remodeling and mitral valve deformation in 52 patients with ischemic mitral insufficiency and planned MV ...
