Case report: ischemic priapism secondary to tinzaparin

International Journal of Impotence Research, 2017
Low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) therapy has recently been proposed as a cause of ischemic priapism. The evidence, however, remains scarce, as there are very few published cases of LMWH-induced priapism to date. The implications of such events are significant as ischemic priapism is a medical emergency.

The management of the acute ischemic priapism: A state of the art review

Actas Urológicas Españolas (English Edition), 2017
To review the current literature on early penile prosthesis implantation in patients with refractory ischemic priapism (IP).A systematic search for the terms "penile prosthesis", "priapism", "impotence", "fibrosis", "downsized prosthesis cylinders", and "patient satisfaction" has been carried out in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, SCOPUS and Science Citation

[Refractory ischemic priapism due to trazodone].

Revue medicale de Liege, 2023
Priapism is a prolonged erection lasting more than four hours. In most cases, it is a surgical emergency. Trazodone is one of the molecules that can cause priapism. This constitutes a real challenge in the management of these patients, who are often young, to avoid too bad impact on erectile function. We report the case of a 34-year-old man.

Second Pathways in the Pathophysiology of Ischemic Priapism and Treatment Alternatives

Urology, 2013
To evaluate the early therapeutic alternatives such as bosentan, an endothelin receptor blocker, theophylline, an adenosin receptor blocker, and a nonselective phosphodiesterase enzyme inhibitor, zinc protoporphyrin (ZnPP), a heme oxygenase 1 inhibitor, for the therapy of ischemic priapism in the rat models.Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly

Effect of phenylephrine and terbutaline on ischemic priapism: a retrospective review

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2016
Ischemic priapism is the most common cause of priapism due to low blood flow. Current guidelines recommend penile aspiration and the use of intracavernous injection of vasoactive agents. The data to support these recommendations are limited and rely on expert consensus. The objective was to determine the effectiveness of terbutaline and phenylephrine on

A narrative review of initial treatment for ischemic priapism

International Journal of Impotence Research
Priapism is a rare condition characterized by prolonged and often painful penile erection unrelated to sexual stimulation. Ischemic priapism, the most common subtype, requires immediate attention to prevent irreversible damage to erectile tissue. This narrative review explores the initial management strategies for ischemic priapism.

Reperfusion of ischemic corporal tissue: physiologic and biochemical changes in an animal model of ischemic priapism

Urology, 2003
To assess the physiologic and biochemical changes resulting from ischemia and reperfusion. Effective therapy for ischemic priapism reestablishes corporal venous outflow and arterial inflow and results in increased corporal partial pressure of oxygen.
