Performance Evaluation of Triggering Patient‐Based Real‐Time Quality Control Alarms for Insufficient Remaining Amounts of K+, Na+, and Cl− Reagents Based on Three Data Truncation Methods

open access: yesiLABMED, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 18-26, March 2026.
Notably, our findings demonstrated that in specific reagent depletion conditions, the tail‐retention and tail‐shrinkage methods exhibited superior sensitivity compared with instrument alarms, providing earlier warnings during continuous sample processing.

Quantification of Alkali‐Fluoride Nanoparticle Dissolution in Aqueous Media as a Function of Crystallinity and Surface Modification

open access: yesParticle &Particle Systems Characterization, Volume 43, Issue 3, March 2026.
Fluoride release kinetics from uncoated and coated β−NaYF4$\ubeta-{\rm NaYF}_4$ and LiYF4${\rm LiYF}_4$ in aqueous solutions are quantified using an ion‐selective electrode coupled to a dialysis compartment. TEM/DLS/ICP‐OES and speciation‐aware modeling complement the fluoride release results.

Smart Waste, Smarter World: Exploring Waste Types, Trends, and Tech‐Driven Valorization Through Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Blockchain

open access: yesSustainable Development, Volume 34, Issue S2, Page 132-153, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Global municipal solid waste generation is projected to exceed 3.8 billion tonnes annually by 2050. This makes the need for smart, inclusive, and scalable waste valorization systems more urgent than ever. This review critically explores the shift from conventional waste management to intelligent, technology‐driven solutions aligned with ...

Advances in Modal Regression: From Theoretical Foundations to Practical Implementations

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2026.
Modal regression. ABSTRACT Modal regression has emerged as a powerful alternative to traditional mean and quantile regression by focusing on estimating the conditional mode rather than the conditional mean or quantiles. This approach offers robustness to outliers and skewed distributions while providing more informative prediction intervals for ...

Climate Shapes the Nitrate Cycling in Riparian Soils Across Biomes

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Riparian corridors are key components of the global nitrogen (N) cycle, acting as potential nitrate (NO3−) sinks within landscapes. To better understand the factors driving NO3− cycling, we compiled 808 observations of soil moisture, temperature, inorganic N content and net nitrification (NN) rates from 174 riparian sites and used them to ...
