Present study deals with parametric optimization and performance evaluation of an air-cooled organic Rankine system for the low-temperature geothermal source, especially considering the effects of turbine isentropic efficiency. Turbine isentropic efficiency is predicted with turbine size parameter and volume ratio, using the well-known correlation for ...

Volume 7: Industrial and Cogeneration; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Microturbines, Turbochargers, and Small Turbomachines; Oil & Gas Applications, 2022
Abstract Turbocharging plays a key role not only in improving automotive engine performance, but also in reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions for Spark Ignition and diesel engines. In depth experimental investigations on turbochargers are therefore necessary to better understand their performance.

Abstract A turbocharger efficiency performance map given by the supplier is calculated using adiabatic flow equations and nonadiabatic experimental data. The experimental data used for this calculation are measured in hot gas stand conditions which are not adiabatic and the efficiency calculation needs correction. This article presents a

More efficient implicit box‐lambda scheme for non‐isentropic flows
Engineering Computations, 1985A new implementation of the implicit lambda scheme recently proposed by other authors is provided. One‐dimensional compressible non‐isentropic flows inside four different nozzles and Fanno and Rayleigh's subsonic/ supersonic flows are computed, which demonstrate the superior efficiency and accuracy of the present formulation.

Experimental studies on isentropic efficiency of a nonequilibrium MHD disk generator
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1998Isentropic efficiency of the nonequilibrium MHD power generator was studied by a shock tube driven disk generator. Cesium seeded helium was used as a working gas. From the measurements of Faraday current density distribution, it was possible to estimate the general tendency of Joule dissipation in the generator.

Efficient shock capturing for isentropic flows using arithmetic averaging
International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 1994A shock capturing scheme is presented for the equations of isentropic flow based on upwind differencing applied to a locally linearized set of Riemann problems. This includes the two-dimensional shallow water equations using the familiar gas dynamics analogy.

Efficiency Based on Free-Energy Instead of Isentropic Conditions
Volume 4: Codes, Standards, Licensing, and Regulatory Issues; Fuel Cycle, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning; Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Coupled Codes; Instrumentation and Co, 2012Traditional Isentropic-Eta method bases actual work on reversible work: ΛS = 0. Proposed Free-Energy-Eta method bases actual work on Gibbs Free-Energy change: ΛG = ΛH − T* ΛS.T is exit stream temperature, causing Free-Energy-Eta results to match Isentropic-Eta results at unity efficiency.
