AbstractWe conduct an axisymmetric, two‐dimensional (r − z) magnetohydrodynamic numerical analysis of a large‐scale, nonequilibrium disk‐shaped MHD generator with a thermal input of 1 GW to examine the influence of a total pressure loss between the hot duct inlet and the supersonic nozzle outlet of the MHD generator on its isentropic efficiency ...

The world's highest isentropic efficiency of a shock-tube driven disk CCMHD generator
Digest of Technical Papers. PPC-2003. 14th IEEE International Pulsed Power Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37472), 2004Closed cycle magnetohydrodynamics (CCMHD) power generation experiments using a shock-tube driven disk generator have been conducted to achieve high performance. Despite of a small-scale generator having a generating volume of 4.1 liter, outstanding performance: an isentropic efficiency of 63 % and an enthalpy extraction ratio of 30.8 % is achieved at a

We describe the effect of a radio-frequency (rf) power application on the performance of a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) electrical power generator, as determined through shock-tunnel-based experiments and quasi-three-dimensional numerical simulations. The temporal plasma-fluid behavior, the one-dimensional plasma-fluid structure, the enthalpy-entropy ...

The Effect of Shock Waves on the Isentropic Efficiency of Convergent— Divergent Nozzles
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1958Now a Days, the phenomenon is well known of the plane normal shock waves set up in the divergent section of a convergent-divergent nozzle, and the oblique shocks which occur in the resultant jet downstream of the nozzle exit when operating under overall pressure ratios less than the design value.

Experimental Study of the Isentropic Efficiency of the Pulse Tube Expansion Process
1997The pulse tube is a simple and reliable new refrigeration device. But so far it is used only in regenerative cryocoolers with quite small refrigeration powers. For applications that require larger refrigeration powers, such as gas separation and liquefaction, the flow diagram of the regenerative pulse tube refrigerator may be inadequate.
