CRITICAL DYNAMICS OF THE ISING MODEL WITH ISING MACHINE

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1988
The dynamical critical exponent z of he two-dimensional Ising model with sequential-flip heat-bath dynamics is numerically estimated to be 2.2, which agrees with that of Metropolis dynamics. The dedicated machine "m-TIS", designed and constructed by the present authors is used for the simulations.

Understanding the Chemical and Electronic Properties of Sub‐Monolayer TiO2 on High Surface Area Silica for Jet Fuel Synthesis Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sub‐monolayer titania grafted onto mesoporous silica enables solvent‐free photocatalytic upgrading of furfural and cyclopentanone into jet fuel precursors. Advanced spectroscopic methods reveal tunable surface speciation, acidity, and bandgaps, enhancing catalytic efficiency.

Built‐In Electric Field in 2D/2D LDH/Antimonene Heterostructure to Induce Stable β‐NiOOH at Ultralow Potential for Cost‐Effective Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper, a built‐in electric field (BEF) strategy is proposed to fabricate NiFe‐LDH/antimonene heterostructure as bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The formed BEF generates a local potential that reduces the potential for the formation of β‐NiOOH, thereby enabling ultra‐low ...

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...

Simulation Reductions for the Ising Model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Practice, 2011
Polynomial time reductions between problems have long been used to delineate problem classes. Simulation reductions also exist, where an oracle for simulation from some probability distribution can be employed together with an oracle for Bernoulli draws in order to obtain a draw from a different distribution.

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

Supervariate Gel Transforms into Various Biominerals in Salt Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is revealed that common calcium‐based biominerals can form from a stable, non‐toxic ‘supervariate’ gel. This tunable gel selectively yields calcite or hydroxyapatite in carbonate/phosphate solutions, while CaCl₂ facilitates the formation of dihydrate calcium pyrophosphate, which converts to hydroxyapatite upon drying. These findings provide insights
