Caste as a Social Kind

ABSTRACT Gender and race have received significant philosophical attention recently; they are the paradigm cases of social kinds in most philosophical accounts. I argue for the inclusion of caste as a social kind because it affects the lives of many people, and because it presents itself as an important test case for philosophers of social kinds.

The impact of physical activity on psychological distress in young people: An analysis of longitudinal data from the Millennium Cohort Study using causal machine learning

Using causal machine learning, we estimated the causal effect of meeting government guidelines on physical activity on psychological distress in young people. Whilst observing no overall impact, we did identify some groups who benefit relatively more from meeting the physical activity guidelines, including males.

Young adult self‐harm: The role of victimisation and polygenic risk in a population‐based longitudinal study

Abstract Background Victimisation has been associated with self‐harm (with or without suicidal intent), but little is known about this association during young adulthood—a distinct developmental period. Further, not all individuals who experience victimisation will later engage in self‐harm, suggesting the influence of other factors.

Using body mapping to explore perceptions of resilience with 7–12‐year‐old Muslim children in East London: A qualitative study

This study explored resilience in Black and South Asian Muslim children aged 7–12 in East London, an underrepresented group affected by deprivation and discrimination. Using body mapping, children depicted resilience as personal strength and described the importance of support systems.
