Unified Grid-Connected and Islanded Operation
2021In order to ensure the uninterrupted power supply, it is necessary for microgrid to operate in both grid-connected mode and islanded mode. To address this concern, this chapter introduces a unified decentralized control strategy for both grid-connected and islanded operation of the series-type microgrid (CMG).

Operational Lessons of the Line Islands Experiment
1967This report reproduces the introspective review meeting about operational lessons learned from the Line Islands experiment that took place during March and April 1967. Observation groups on land, by air, and by sea, collaboratively collected one of the most comprehensive sets of meteorological data ever obtained in the tropics. Because the Line Islands

Universal application of synchronous islanded operation
CIRED Seminar 2008: SmartGrids for Distribution, 2008Synchronous islanded operation keeps an islanded system in synchronism with the main power system while not being electrically connected. The challenges associated with the multiple-set application are considered in this paper.

Co-Operation in Island Biogeography
2000In this chapter I discuss another example of co-operation of holistic and reductionistic research programmes in ecology.1 The example concerns some developments in island biogeography, a branch of ecology dealing with the distribution and abundance of species on islands.

Examination of smart grids in island operation
2009 IEEE Bucharest PowerTech, 2009This paper is qualified for the assessment of cooperation and interaction of smart grids (that means a micro network with about zero transfer power) and power system. Primarily it examines the effect of the continuously increasing integration of the intelligent energy distribution networks concerning the stability of the power system.

Rotated Island Graft Operation for Pterygium
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1926This operation isolates the bulk of the pterygium by four incisions. Sutures are introduced in such a way as when tightened to rotate the isolated square 90 degrees. It is fixed in position with the help of additional sutures if needed. The operation is applicable only to exceptionally severe cases, which may have not been corrected by other operations.

On-line Islanding Operation Based on CSP
2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010In event of fault in distribution system with distributed generators, in order to enhance service reliability, the DGs should be used as main power source for blackout area. Deeply considering the characteristic in the service restoration process and the type of switches, the model based on CSP is proposed to solve the on-line islanding operation ...

Bathurst Island Group and Byam Martin Island, Arctic Canada (operation Bathurst Island)
1972The Bathurst Island group, and Byam Martin Island, together occupy about 8,000 square miles of land area. They are situated near the geographic center of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and encompass the north magnetic pole. Most of the area is covered by sedimentary rocks of Ordovician to Late Devonian age, with a composite exposed thickness of ...

Black start and islanding operations of microgrid
2019This chapter describes different control techniques applied in microgrids (MGs) with responsive distributed energy resources (DER) for intentional and automatic islanding, deployment of a local black start strategy and including the reconnection to the upstream distribution network.

scientific co‐operation in the Aleutian Islands
Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1926The topic for the symposium was suggested by the immediate prospect of the founding of a volcano observatory in the Aleutian Range under the United States Geological Survey. The Aleutians are difficult of access and remain but little more explored than when Alaska was first acquired.
