A novel islanding detection technique using modified Slantlet transform in multi-distributed generation [PDF]
In this paper, a new hybrid islanding detection scheme based on a combination of a modified Slantlet Transform (MSLT) and machine learning is applied to a passive time frequency islanding detection of multiple distributed generation units.

Fundamentals of detectability and detection methods of unintentional electrical islands
2015 IEEE Eindhoven PowerTech, 2015The appearance of unintentional islanding in electrical grids has become a serious challenge due to the increasing number of distributed generation (DG). However, the elementary processes during the occurrence of an island are still not well known.

2018 IEEE 7th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC) (A Joint Conference of 45th IEEE PVSC, 28th PVSEC & 34th EU PVSEC), 2018
This paper describes and explores the effectiveness of a novel power line carrier-based islanding detection and prevention system in which a dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is usedto transmit a low-frequency power line carrier permissive (PLCP) signal. The approach itself is briefly described, and then results are provided showing the effectiveness of ...

Detection of urban heat island in Ankara, Turkey
Il Nuovo Cimento C, 2005The rapid increase in population and corresponding rise in urbanization cause the change in temperature in Turkey. The unplanned and rapid construction has also a very big role in this process. The increase in the number of slums and rapid destruction of green areas and concretion has also strengthened urban heat island (UHI).

Detecting genomic islands using bioinformatics approaches
Nature Reviews Microbiology, 2010Bacterial genomes contain clusters of genes that are acquired by horizontal transfer, called genomic islands (GIs). GIs are frequently associated with microbial adaptations that are of medical and environmental interest, and they have had a substantial impact on bacterial evolution. Therefore, there is growing interest in efficiently identifying GIs in

The 9th Power Systems Protection and Control Conference (PSPC2015), 2015
Microgrids can provide economic and environmental benefits, but their performance poses great technical challenges in control, protection and energy management. Microgrids can be operated either grid-connected or islanded mode. Such dual configuration capability produces challenges on the design of the protection system.

Islanding and Non-Islanding Detection for Grid Connected Distribution System
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014In this paper, wavelet transform based approach is proposed for islanding detection in a distribution system. The negative sequence voltage and negative sequence current obtained due to disturbances are measured at the point of common coupling (PCC) and given to the wavelet processing module to extract features like standard deviation and energy ...

New methods of islanding detection for photovoltaic inverters
2016 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2016In a distribution network with the presence of PV systems, islanding phenomena can occur. Such isolated islands may cause a serious danger for workers and equipment. Therefore, islanding must be detected and the islanded PV systems must be disconnected from the principal network.
