Managing Movement of Returning Rice Straw into Soil (RRIS): A Solution to Land Degradation

open access: yesJurnal Sumberdaya Alam dan Lingkungan, 2022
Concern on rice production in Indonesia is escalating since the production of rice tends to be levelling off for more than a decade. Soil degradation in lowland is among the main challenges.

Turbulent magnetic field amplification driven by cosmic-ray pressure gradients

open access: yes, 2012
Observations of non-thermal emission from several supernova remnants suggest that magnetic fields close to the blastwave are much stronger than would be naively expected from simple shock compression of the field permeating the interstellar medium (ISM).

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Magnetic Field Tomography in Nearby Galaxies with the Square Kilometre Array [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Magnetic fields play an important role in shaping the structure and evolution of the interstellar medium (ISM) of galaxies, but the details of this relationship remain unclear. With SKA1, the 3D structure of galactic magnetic fields and its connection to

Tin Oxide‐Anchored MXene Composites for Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution in Alkaline Media

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates a SnO2/MXene heterostructure for efficient hydrogen evolution. SnO2 nanoparticles are uniformly anchored on conductive MXene nanosheets, enhancing charge transfer and catalytic activity. The MXene substrate provides high electrical conductivity and abundant active sites, while SnO2 facilitates water adsorption and dissociation.

Fatigue lifespan of compliant planetary roller screws: multiscale modelling and stiffness measurements

open access: yesMechanics & Industry
Planetary roller screw mechanisms are rotation‐translation converters able to support high axial loads making them appealing for aerospace applications. Alternate loads but also rotation under constant load put a cyclic strain on the mechanism.

Lyman-alpha line and continuum radiative transfer in a clumpy interstellar medium

open access: yes, 2013
Aims: We aim to study the effects of an inhomogeneous interstellar medium (ISM) on the strength and the shape of the Lyman alpha (Lya) line in starburst galaxies.

Mixing Time Scales in a Supernova-Driven Interstellar Medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We study the mixing of chemical species in the interstellar medium (ISM). Recent observations suggest that the distribution of species such as deuterium in the ISM may be far from homogeneous.
