Representations of the q-deformed algebra $U_q({\rm iso}_2)$

open access: yes, 1999
An algebra homomorphism $\psi$ from the q-deformed algebra $U_q({\rm iso}_2)$ with generating elements $I$, $T_1$, $T_2$ and defining relations $[I,T_2]_q=T_1$, $[T_1,I]_q=T_2$, $[T_2,T_1]_q=0$ (where $[A,B]_q=q^{1/2}AB-q^{-1/2}BA$) to the extension ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Computationally efficient tail distribution-aware large-scale power system overloading risk assessment

open access: yesNature Communications
The uncertainties and intermittency associated with renewable generation sources, such as solar and wind, can pose significant overloading risks to power systems under N − k contingencies, potentially leading to cascading outages.

Scientific basis of ISO standards on biomechanical risk factors

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2018
Among other purposes, companies and regulatory agencies from around the world often adopt International Standard Organization (ISO) standards to determine acceptable practices, equipment and criteria for preventing occupational injuries and illnesses ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH THE LENS OF ISO STANDARDS [PDF]

open access: yesBusiness Excellence and Management, 2012
The term corporate social responsibility has become part of the economic vocabulary since the seventh decade of the 20th century. Since the beginning of the 21st century this term extended, became complex, multidimensional with many economic, legal and ...

Gamma-Ray Bursts: the Isotropic-Equivalent-Energy Function and the Cosmic Formation Rate

open access: yes, 2012
Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are brief but intense emission of soft $\gamma-$rays, mostly lasting from a few seconds to a few thousand seconds. For such kind of high energy transients, their isotropic-equivalent-energy ($E_{\rm iso}$) function may be more ...

Imaging of Iso-frequency Contours via Resonance-Enhanced Scattering in Near-Pristine Photonic Crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The iso-frequency contours of a photonic crystal are important for predicting and understanding exotic optical phenomena that are not apparent from high-symmetry band structure visualizations.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
