Ultraviolet-curable Silicone/Urethane Elastomer and Its Selective Modulus Enhancement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Department of Chemical EngineeringThermosets usually have brittle structure, but thermosetting polyurethane (PU) is classified as elastomer due to its urethane linkage in the backbone.

Aminolysis of cyclic-carbonate vegetable oils as a non-isocyanate route for the synthesis of polyurethane: A kinetic and thermal study

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal, 2018
Production of polyurethane is increasing since the recent years. Nevertheless, this production uses hazardous chemicals, which is isocyanate. Academy has put a lot of effort to develop some non-isocyanate polyurethane routes. One of the most promising is

Oil and fat absorbing polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A method is described for forming a solid network polymer having a minimal amount of crosslinking for use in absorbing fats and oils. The polymer remains solid at a swelling ratio in oil or fat of at least ten and provides an oil absorption greater than ...

Reactivity of Isocyanate-Functionalized Lignins: A Key Factor for the Preparation of Lignin-Based Polyurethanes

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Using isocyanate-functionalized Kraft lignin as a reactive macromonomer for the preparation of polyurethane foams by a prepolymer technique is a well-known strategy to incorporate the biomacromolecule into a higher value polymer material.

Associations Between Glutathione-S-Transferase Genotypes and Bronchial Hyperreactivity Patients With Di-isocyanate Induced Asthma. A Follow-Up Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2019
Introduction: Di-isocyanates TDI (toluene di-isocyanate), MDI (diphenylmethane di-isocyanate), and HDI (hexamethylene di-isocyanate) are the most common chemicals causing occupational asthma. Di-isocyanate inhalation has been reported to induce oxidative

The Challenging P‐Alkylation of Aromatic Phosphorus Heterocycles and Follow‐Up Reactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
P‐alkylation of λ3σ2‐phosphinines is hindered by weak nucleophilicity and scarce synthetic access, previously requiring multistep routes or extreme electrophiles. A direct ambient‐condition method is reported using 3,5‐bis(trimethylsilyl)‐phosphinine/B(C6F5)3 with esters or iso(thio)cyanates to generate stable 1‐R‐phosphininium salts.

(2‐Phosphinophenyl)aluminum Dichloride Complexes as Intramolecular Al/P Frustrated Lewis Pairs for Ketone, Ester, and Imine Activation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Three 2‐phosphinophenylaluminum dichloride complexes were synthesized and characterized as novel intramolecular FLPs. These FLP systems exhibit high Lewis acidity and effectively activate challenging substrates including aliphatic ketones, imines, and esters. DFT analysis revealed that strain release and Al–P dynamics govern their reactivity. Abstract (

Urethane Formation with an Excess of Isocyanate or Alcohol: Experimental and Ab Initio Study

open access: yesPolymers, 2019
A kinetic and mechanistic investigation of the alcoholysis of phenyl isocyanate using 1-propanol as the alcohol was undertaken. A molecular mechanism of urethane formation in both alcohol and isocyanate excess is explored using a combination of an ...

It's a Gas: Bioconjugation With Vapor‐Phase Reagents

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Gaseous reagents are an emerging class of bioconjugation reagents that can offer alternative selectivity paradigms for the construction of precise bioconjugates. A variety of both inert and highly reactive gases have recently been developed for bioconjugation use.
