Comparing Pixel- and Object-Based Approaches in Effectively Classifying Wetland-Dominated Landscapes

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Wetland ecosystems straddle both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, performing many ecological functions directly and indirectly benefitting humans. However, global wetland losses are substantial.

An Integrated Framework for the Assessment of Meso‐Scale Physical Habitats in Gravel‐Bed Rivers Using Remote Sensing and 2D Hydraulic Modeling

open access: yesWIREs Water, Volume 12, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
A five‐step integrated modeling framework combines remote sensing and two‐dimensional hydraulic modeling to describe mesohabitats and assess suitability for target species. Remote sensing provides a Digital Terrain Model and an orthophoto (step 1) that can be used to classify and map environmental descriptors such as substrate and refugia (step 2).

A Fast Implementation of the ISODATA Clustering Algorithm

open access: yes, 2005
Clustering is central to many image processing and remote sensing applications. ISODATA is one of the most popular and widely used clustering methods in geoscience applications, but it can run slowly, particularly with large data sets.

Dynamic tracking of acute ischemic tissue fates using improved unsupervised ISODATA analysis of high-resolution quantitative perfusion and diffusion data

open access: yes, 2008
High-resolution (200 x 200 x 1,500 microm3) imaging was performed to derive quantitative cerebral blood flow (CBF) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps in stroke rats (permanent occlusion) every 30 minutes up to 3 hours after occlusion onset ...

ISODATA: Thresholds for splitting clusters

open access: yes, 1972
The author has identified the following significant results. The parameter AD (average distance) as used in the ISODATA program was critically examined. Thresholds of AD to decide on the splitting of clusters were obtained.

基于改进模糊ISODATA算法的变压器故障诊断

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2006

An Alternative Approach to Mapping Thermophysical Units from Martian Thermal Inertia and Albedo Data Using a Combination of Unsupervised Classification Techniques

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
Thermal inertia and albedo provide information on the distribution of surface materials on Mars. These parameters have been mapped globally on Mars by the Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES) onboard the Mars Global Surveyor.

Application of an improved ISODATA method to pipeline leak detection

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2007
Increasingly serious leak problem in pipeline transportation has not only affected the operation of pipelines but also caused loss of precious resource and environmental damage. Based on the analysis of the occurrence of negative pressure waves and the unsupervised learning of pattern recognition, the Interactive Self-organizing Data Analysis Technique
