The inhibitory SAPS3-AMPK interaction detected in HEK293 cells is not detectable in muscle or liver from humans or mice. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Lett
This study challenges the idea that Sit4‐associated protein subunit 3 (SAPS3) inhibits the energy‐sensing enzyme AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK) in muscle and liver tissue. Although SAPS3 interacts with AMPK in cultured cells, we found no such interaction in human or mouse tissues subjected to fasting, exercise, or a high‐fat diet.

Case Report of Ultrasonographic and Computed Tomography Findings of Presumed Traumatic Ocular Globe and Lens Rupture in a Cat. [PDF]

open access: yesCase Rep Vet Med
A 5‐year‐old female spayed domestic short hair cat was presented 2 weeks after a history of unknown trauma. The examination of the head revealed facial asymmetry. Vision tests, including menace responses, were negative. Pupillary light reflexes and dazzle reflexes were negative in both eyes.

Prevalence and degree of orotracheal intubation-related tracheal lesions in horses. [PDF]

open access: yesEquine Vet J
Abstract Background Orotracheal intubation is commonly performed for inhalation anaesthesia in horses to ensure safe and reliable administration of volatile anaesthetics and to secure the airways. In human and equine medicine, the occurrence of intubation‐associated complications has been described, which can range from mild mucosal irritation to ...

Trigeminal Nerve Asymmetry in Horses With Idiopathic Trigeminal-Mediated Headshaking: A Retrospective Case-Control Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Intern Med
ABSTRACT Background Nerve atrophy results in trigeminal nerve (TN) asymmetry detectable by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in humans, but similar studies have not been performed in horses with idiopathic trigeminal‐mediated headshaking (ITMHS). Hypothesis Horses with ITMHS show greater MRI‐detected trigeminal‐nerve asymmetry than controls.

Rational Design of Unsaturated, Thioether Ionizable Lipids for Enhanced In Vivo mRNA Delivery. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Healthc Mater
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have rapidly become the delivery system of choice for RNA therapeutics. Here, a rational design approach is taken to improve the effectiveness of LNPs based on an ionizable thioether lipid library. The incorporation of unsaturated tails and bulkier, hydrophobic head groups significantly enhances their functionality and ...

An Evaluation of Genotoxicity and 90-Day Repeated-Dose Oral Toxicity in Rats of DracoBelle Nu sd. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
A powdered water extract of D. moldavica, DracoBelle Nu sd, did not induce gene mutations in a bacterial reverse mutation assay, did not induce genotoxicity in an mammalian micronucleus test (MMT), and did not cause adverse effects in male or female Han:WIST rats after 90/91 consecutive days of oral gavage administration of 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg bw ...

Distinct molecular mechanisms contribute to the reduction of melanoma growth and tumor pain after systemic and local depletion of alpha‐Synuclein in mice

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 37, Issue 12, December 2023., 2023
Wild‐type mice inoculated with B16BL6 or B16‐NC cells developed large tumors and exhibited autophagy, neuroinflammation, and pain hypersensitivity. In contrast, the ablation of Snca, either globally (Snca−/− mice inoculated with B16BL6 cells) or locally (wild‐type mice inoculated with B16‐Snca−/− cells), reduced tumor growth and tumor‐induced ...
