Contrasting carbonate depositional systems for Pliocene cool-water limestones cropping out in central Hawke's Bay, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pliocene limestone formations in central Hawke's Bay (eastern North Island, New Zealand) accumulated on and near the margins of a narrow forearc basin seaway within the convergent Australia/Pacific plate boundary zone.

Growth and subsidence of carbonate platforms: numerical modelling and application to the Dolomites, Italy

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2004
The phenomenon of subsidence induced by the growth of carbonate platforms has been investigated with the aid of numerical modelling. The research aimed to quantify the relative contribution of this process in the creation of the accommodation space ...

Micropaleontology and systematic determination of Miscellaneidae family in the Middle Paleocene–lower Eocene deposits in the north of Zahedan, Padagi stratigraphic sections [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2019
Abstratct  Miscellaneidae are Paleogene larger index microfossils (Middle Paleocene–Early Eocene) that are important for biozonation of shallow marine deposits.

Experimental investigation of calcium carbonate mineralogy in past and future oceans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Inorganic marine calcium carbonate formation and mineralogy varies significantly concurrent with the solution composition. During the Phanerozoic, due to oscillations in the seawater composition, this resulted in the formation of either dominantly ...

MIDDLE TRIASSIC PLATFORM AND BASIN EVOLUTION OF THE SOUTHERN BAKONY MOUNTAINS (TRANSDANUBIAN RANGE, HUNGARY)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2006
Middle Triassic history of the Southern Bakony Mts. is outlined on the base of horizontal and vertical facies changes of the formations. During the Pelsonian (Balatonicus Chron) the evolution of the basins and platforms was determined basically by ...

Environmental Controls on Depositional Patterns of Isolated Carbonate Platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This dissertation explores the influence of the environment on the lateral spatial patterning of facies in modern isolated carbonate platforms through six studies.

The Northeastern Margin of the Adriatic Carbonate Platform

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2002
At the end of Pliensbachian or during the Toarcian, several carbonateplatforms were individualised by extensional tectonics in southernTethys, of which the Adriatic Carbonate Platform is one.

Preparation, physical-chemical characterisation and cytocompatibility of calcium carbonate cements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The feasibility of calcium carbonate cements involving the recrystallisation of metastable calcium carbonate varieties has been demonstrated. Calcium carbonate cement compositions presented in this paper can be prepared straightforwardly by simply mixing

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.
