Identification of phenotypes at risk of transition from diastolic hypertension to isolated systolic hypertension [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Human Hypertension, 2015
Little is known about the potential progression of hypertensive patients towards isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) and about the phenotypes associated with the development of this condition. Aim of this study was to detect predictors of evolution towards ISH in patients with initial systolic-diastolic hypertension.

Various disorders of the diastolic function of left ventricle are formed due to concentric and eccentric types of hypertrophy. The processes of elevation of myocardial stiffness and reduction of lard-bore arterial vessel elastance develop parallel and at

Incidence and predictors of isolated systolic hypertension and isolated diastolic hypertension in Taiwan.

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association = Taiwan yi zhi, 2001
The significance of isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) has been well documented, particularly in the elderly. However, isolated diastolic hypertension (IDH) has not been formally recognized as a unique hypertension entity. This study compared the ages of onset and characteristics of ISH and IDH.The Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors Two-Township ...

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Phenotypes of Hypertension: Impact of Age and Sex on Hemodynamic Mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Essential hypertension is often treated as a uniform condition. However, it encompasses distinct patterns of blood pressure elevation such as isolated systolic, systolic diastolic, and isolated diastolic hypertension, which vary in prevalence ...

Isolated systolic hypertension and central blood pressure: Implications from the national nutrition and health survey in Taiwan

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, 2021
We aimed to investigate the association between isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) and central blood pressure (BP) in a nationally representative population, with a focus on the young and middle‐aged adults (

Integrating Time‐Adjusted Imaging Instability Into Functional Outcome Prediction After Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Development and Validation of the HAGIV Score

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early risk stratification may support clinical decision‐making in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). We aimed to develop and internally validate HAGIV, a score integrating frequency of imaging markers (FIM), a time‐adjusted non‐contrast computed tomography (CT) metric of hematoma expansion, with established predictors for 90‐

Racial disparities in hypertension subtype prevalence over the lifecourse: evidence of accelerated arterial ageing in a population representative cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMJ Public Health
Introduction Racially minoritised populations, particularly Black individuals, have been shown to have an earlier average age of onset of hypertension (elevated systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure) compared with White individuals potentially due to ‘
