Isolated central vestibular syndrome

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2015
Isolated vestibular syndrome may occur all along the vestibular pathways from the peripheral labyrinth to the brain. By virtue of recent developments in clinical neurotology and neuroimaging, however, diagnosis of isolated central vestibulopathy is increasing.

Isolated Central Nervous System Mucormycosis

Southern Medical Journal, 1994
Isolated central nervous system (CNS) mucormycosis is a rare but life-threatening infection. We report a case of bilateral frontal lobe mucormycosis in a previously healthy woman. Intravenous drug use was the most likely route of infection. After treatment with surgical drainage and amphotericin B, she survived but suffered permanent neurologic ...

Isolated angiitis of the central nervous system

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 1986
Two adults with isolated angiitis of the central nervous system (CNS) are described and the diagnostic criteria of the disease are evaluated. The diagnosis was based on carotid angiogram showing segmental narrowing (a "beaded" appearance) with or without microaneurysms or arterial obstruction, and on clinical observations excluding other underlying ...

Isolated angiitis of the central nervous system

Annals of Neurology, 1985
AbstractAngiitis confined to the central nervous system is a rare; disorder in which inflammation and consequent irregular narrowings of medium‐sized cerebral arteries are prominent. Clinical and radiological features in 3 patients with this condition are described. All patients responded to either steroid or steroid plus azathioprine therapy.

Axons: Isolation from Mammalian Central Nervous System

Science, 1972
Centrifugation of a homogenate of white matter, in a solution of buffered sucrose containing salt, produces a floating layer of myelinated axons. When these are suspended in hypotonic buffer, the myelin swells and strips away from the axon. Axons are then separated from the myelin by centrifugation.

Isolated Central Nervous System Histoplasmosis

Southern Medical Journal, 1979
A solitary localized Histoplasma infection of the central nervous system, a "histoplasmoma," may mimic a neoplastic brain tumor clinically and radiographically and should be considered in a differential diagnosis of localized central nervous system mass lesions.

Isolated Central Nervous System Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis: Case Report

Neurosurgery, 2005
Abstract OBJECTIVE AND IMPORTANCE: The first case of histologically proven hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) isolated to the central nervous system (CNS) is reported. HLH affecting the CNS mimics several neurological disorders and may be misdiagnosed.
