Revisiting randomized choices in isolation forests

open access: yes, 2021
Isolation forest or "iForest" is an intuitive and widely used algorithm for anomaly detection that follows a simple yet effective idea: in a given data distribution, if a threshold (split point) is selected uniformly at random within the range of some variable and data points are divided according to whether they are greater or smaller than this ...

Multibit Ferroelectric HfZrO Memcapacitor for Non‐Volatile Analogue Memory and Reconfigurable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.

CADI: Contextual Anomaly Detection using an Isolation-Forest

open access: yesACM Symposium on Applied Computing
Reconstructing the data inner structure and identifying abnormal points are two major tasks in many data analysis processes. A step beyond the decomposition of a data set as inliers and outliers, that then may be interpreted as anomalies, is to ...

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

Distance approximation using Isolation Forests

open access: yes, 2019
This work briefly explores the possibility of approximating spatial distance (alternatively, similarity) between data points using the Isolation Forest method envisioned for outlier detection. The logic is similar to that of isolation: the more similar or closer two points are, the more random splits it will take to separate them.

Auxeticity‐by‐Assembly: Interlocking Modular Auxetic Metamaterials with Selectively Activatable AgNW–Graphene Oxide‐EGaIn Composite Interconnects for Scalable Freeform Photovoltaic Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Auxeticity‑by‑Assembly converts freeform photovoltaics from cut‑defined layouts to assembly‑defined systems. Standardized interlocking units generate negative‑Poisson‑ratio, reconfigurable architectures, while hinge regions are wired by selectively activatable AgNW–GO@EGaIn composite interconnects and a folding‑enabled interconnector layer. A decimeter‑

Outlier Ensemble Based on Isolation Forest: The CBOEA Approach

open access: yesFoundations of Computing and Decision Sciences
Outliers are instances that deviate from the norm. In certain fields, their detection is crucial since they are often indicators of interesting events such as system faults and deliberate human actions.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Hybrid MCDM–Isolation Forest approach for spatiotemporal landslide mapping

open access: yesOpen Geosciences
Landslide assessment requires static factors defining baseline conditions and dynamic factors acting as triggers. However, integrating various factors into susceptibility assessments increases uncertainty in multi-criteria decision making (MCDM ...
