Management of Barrett’s Esophagus

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 14, Issue D, Page 35D-43D, 2000., 2000
There have been major recent advances in the understanding of the pathogenesis and epidemiology of Barrett’s esophagus and adenocarcinoma of the esophagus. The advent of potent acid suppression with proton pump inhibitors and safe, minimally invasive antireflux procedures has made alleviating symptoms and eliminating peptic complications achievable ...

Transcriptomic profiling of dorsal root ganglia in atopic and healthy dogs: A comparative RNA sequencing study with implications in cutaneous itch research

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 401-411, August 2025.
Background – Itch is a common symptom in skin disorders. While the neural pathways of itch transmission from the skin to the brain are well‐understood in rodents, the same pathways in dogs remain unclear. The knowledge gap hinders the development of effective treatments for canine itch‐related disorders.

Neuronal Plasticity Associated with Burn Injury and Its Relevance for Perception and Management of Pain in Burn Patients

open access: yesPain Research and Management, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 205-213, 2000., 2000
Through the introduction of the gate control theory and various subsequent works, Ronald Melzack has inspired many investigators worldwide to realize two important facts about pain. First, incoming pain messages are subject to both negative and positive modulation, which significantly affect its perception.

Cosmetic emulsions containing innovative complex coacervates: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 383-397, April 2025.
This study demonstrates the successful encapsulation of α‐tocopherol using non‐animal biopolymers, improving its stability and functional properties in cosmetic emulsions. The developed microcapsules enhance product texture and rheological behaviour, offering promising potential for more stable and functional skincare formulations.

Air and surface temperature modelling across a temperate mountain landscape: An investigation of microclimatic influences on surface offsets viewed within the context of epigaeic arthropod thermal habitat

open access: yesCanadian Geographer / Le géographe canadien, Volume 69, Issue 1, Spring / printemps 2025.
Abstract Development of high‐resolution temperature models in mountain environments must include consideration of the influence of complex topography and seasonality on thermal distribution across horizontal and vertical scales. Small‐bodied organisms, including arthropods, in montane and alpine ecosystems inhabit environments for which local ...

A comparison between Hankel and Fourier methods for photothermal radiometry analysis

open access: yesHeat Transfer, Volume 53, Issue 8, Page 4268-4284, December 2024.
Abstract Photothermal radiometry has recently been investigated for use in the multidimensional thermal characterization of anisotropic samples. In application, there are two principal thermal models available for such characterization: a Cartesian model for the heat equation, which requires the application of three Fourier transforms to arrive at a ...

Shake‐table tests on steel moment‐resisting frames with detachable yielding zones

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 53, Issue 12, Page 3798-3819, 10 October 2024.
Abstract This article presents an experimental campaign based on shake table tests conducted as part of the European research project FUTURE, funded in the framework of the H2020‐INFRAIA SERA program. Three steel moment‐resisting frame structures equipped with replaceable dissipative elements were tested. The experimental mockups were scaled two thirds
