Reductions in systolic blood pressure achieved by hypertensives with three isometric training sessions per week are maintained with a single session per week

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, 2023
Isometric handgrip or (wall) squat exercise performed three times per week produces reductions in systolic blood pressure (SBP) in adults with hypertension.

A note on isometric immersions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society. Series A. Pure Mathematics and Statistics, 1982
AbstractLet N be a complete connected Riemannian manifold with sectional curvatures bounded from below. Let M be a complete simply connected Riemannian manifold with sectional curvatures KM(σ)≤ −a2 (a ≥ 0) and with dimension < 2 dim N. Suppose that N is isometrically immersed in M and that its image lies in a closed ball of radius ρ. Then sup(KN(σ) −

A Soft Robotic Device for Targeted Massage Therapy of Residual Limbs

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Residual limb edema after amputation can hinder recovery and delay prosthetic fitting. This study presents a soft‐robotic wearable device that delivers sequential compression through pneumatic McKibben actuators. By replicating the principles of manual lymphatic drainage, the device generates controlled mechanotherapeutic pressure patterns, providing a

An elementary proof that rationally isometric quadratic forms are isometric [PDF]

open access: yesArchiv der Mathematik, 2014
Let $R$ be a valuation ring with fraction field $K$ and $2\in R^\times$. We give an elementary proof of the following known result: Two unimodular quadratic forms over $R$ are isometric over $K$ if and only if they are isometric over $R$. Our proof does not use Witt's Cancelation Theorem and yields an explicit algorithm to construct an isometry over $R$

Isometric embeddings of graphs [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1984
We prove that any finite undirected graph can be canonically embedded isometrically into a maximum cartesian product of irreducible factors.

Robotic Control for Human–Robot Collaborative Assembly Based on Digital Human Model and Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a robotic control method for human–robot collaborative assembly based on a biomechanics‐constrained digital human model. Reinforcement learning is used to generate physiologically plausible human motion trajectories, which are integrated into a virtual environment for robot control learning.

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Relationships between Body Build and Knee Joint Flexor and Extensor Torque of Polish First-Division Soccer Players

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The aim of the study is to identify the relationships between anthropometric variables and knee joint extensor peak torque, knee joint flexor peak torque, and conventional hamstring-to-quadriceps ratio in Polish first-division soccer players.

Fixed point properties in the space of marked groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We explain, following Gromov, how to produce uniform isometric actions of groups starting from isometric actions without fixed point, using common ultralimits techniques.

Textile Actuation Based on In‐Air Actuating Polypyrrole‐Based Tape Yarns for Wearable Soft Robotics: Toward On‐Body Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work reports on the actuation behavior of CP‐based polypyrrole/PVdF TYs soaked in electrolyte/ionic liquids and woven actuators where such TYs are integrated. These studies are important toward the creation of on‐body applications such as wearable soft robotics, where textiles offer many advantages such as increased force, integrated electrical ...
