Timing of Anticipatory Responses following an Isometric Contraction [PDF]
The effects on timing of anticipation following an isometric contraction were investigated. Using a Bassin timer, 35 subjects performed 10 trials for each of 4 forewarning periods at 3 stimulus speeds resulting in 120 trials for the control condition.

Effort Scaling of Isometric Muscle Contractions
Journal of Motor Behavior, 1973Maximum voluntary manual pull was measured on 18 Ss. These values were then used to determine the forces at 10% intervals from 30% to 100% of maximum strength for each S. In subsequent sessions, Ss started an exertion at one of these effort levels and then maintained an equal sensation of effort for 60 sec.

Mandibular tremor during isometric contractions
Archives of Oral Biology, 2007The purpose of this short review is to consider the various hypotheses that are attributed to genesis of physiological tremor seen in the human jaw during isometric contractions.

Duration of a Maximal Isometric Muscular Contraction
Research Quarterly. American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, 1969Abstract The maximum force exerted by forearm flexors, during isometric contraction at 60, 100 and 120 degrees at the elbow joint, was measured on nine male subjects by means of an electric dynamometer. The intensity of the effort was recorded in ft-lb. of torque to make measurements independent of the length of the forearm.

Isometric muscle contraction in endocrine myopathies
Neurology, 1985Isometric contraction of the adductor pollicis muscle of the thumb was evoked by stimulating the ulnar nerve in 20 normal adults and 58 patients with endocrine disorders. We evaluated mechanical latency, electromechanical latency, contraction time, half relaxation time, isometric twitch force, compound muscle action potential, nerve conduction velocity,

Level of Isometric Strength and Isometric Endurance in Repeated Contractions
Research Quarterly. American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, 1966Abstract Thirty male subjects were given 20 trials of isometric wrist flexion on each arm. Each trial consisted of 5 sec. of maximum exertion followed by a 30 sec. rest period. Subjects were ranked on the basis of the first two trials for each of the limbs and divided into three groups of 10 subjects each representing high, middle, and low levels of ...

Isometric Dilations of Commuting Contractions. IV
1986A theorem on unitary dilations of contractions on Hilbert spaces due to \textit{B. Sz.-Nagy} [Acta Sci. Math. 15, 87-92 (1953; Zbl 0052.122)] led to an effective functional calculus for Hilbert space contractions. The paper under review is an interesting addition to the literature on 'harmonic analysis of operators on Hilbert spaces.' For two commuting

Regulation of isometric contraction in skeletal muscle
Experimental Neurology, 1976The purpose of this study was to determine whether differences in isometric twitch contraction times of skeletal muscles are related more closely to myosin adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) activity or to the ability of the sarcotubules to accumulate Ca2+.
