CONTRIBUTIONS TO DISTRIBUTION OF TURKISH FRESHWATER ISOPODS (CRUSTACEA: ISOPODA)

open access: yesTrakya University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2016
This study was carried out to contribute to distribution of freshwater isopods in Marmara Region (including Gökçeada and Bozcaada islands) of Turkey. For this aim, it was evaluated the material which was sampled during the years 1991, and 1998-2002 in a ...

Fine‐Scale Ecological Biomonitoring in a Large, Complex Agriculturally Impacted Watershed via eDNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 10, May 2026.
ABSTRACT DNA‐based approaches utilizing high‐throughput sequencing (HTS) (e.g., DNA metabarcoding) have revolutionized ecological biomonitoring by providing higher sample throughput, greater reproducibility, and better cost‐benefits compared to traditional morphology‐based bioassessment studies.

Trachelipus razzauti (Arcangeli, 1913) (Crustacea: Isopoda: Oniscidea) and Typhloiulus serborum Ćurčić & Makarov, 2005 (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) – new species for the Romanian fauna

open access: yesTravaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza
A new species of Oniscidea, Trachelipus razzauti, and a new species of Diplopoda, Typhloiulus serborum, are recorded first time for the Romanian fauna. Both species have been “discovered” in the collection of the “Emil Racoviţă” Institute of Speleology.

Restoration tools and strategies for afforested Mediterranean coastal grasslands: is eucalypt removal alone enough to kickstart ecosystem recovery?

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 4, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Afforestation with non‐native trees has profoundly altered coastal dune grasslands worldwide, creating persistent ecological legacies that constrain ecosystem recovery. Objectives We evaluated the cost‐effectiveness of two restoration approaches, distinguished by their respective demands for resource investment: Moderately ...

First record of the genus Metacirolana sp. and Cymodoce tribullis (Crustacea; Isopoda) from South Andaman, Andaman Islands, India

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science, 2020
Isopoda are one of the most poorly known crustaceans in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The present study has recorded genus Metacirolana sp. and Cymodoce tribullis, for the first time from South Andaman.

Temperature and Prey Availability Drive Seasonal Variations in Diet, Abundance and Condition of Forsterygion lapillum Across Two Coastal Habitats

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study investigated how temperature, turbidity and prey availability affect the diet, body condition and abundance of F. lapillum in two coastal ecosystems. Results showed seasonal and spatial variation, with body condition, abundance and gut volume positively correlated with warmer temperatures but not with turbidity.

Arthropod Assemblages in Desert Ecosystems of Alula County, Saudi Arabia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study provides preliminary descriptions of arthropod communities in two desert habitats—arid thorn woodlands and wadis—across protected areas in AlUla County, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Pitfall trapping over a 6‐day period yielded more than 2000 specimens representing at least 189 morphospecies, with ants (Formicidae) and springtails ...

NORTHERN PACIFIC GIGANTIONE (ISOPODA)

open access: yesThe Biological Bulletin, 1967
1. Eight species of Gigantione have now been described. One was from the north Atlantic, one from the Indian Ocean, two from the south Pacific, and four from the north Pacific. Of these last, G. pratti and G. hawaiiensis are new species. The hosts of the different species have all been in separate genera, with the exception of those for G. giardi and G.
