Phytochemical screening and evaluation of cardioprotective activity of ethanolic extract of Ocimum basilicum L. (basil) against isoproterenol induced myocardial infarction in rats

open access: yesDARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2012
The objectives of the present study were phytochemical screening and study of the effects of ethanolic extract of aerial parts of Ocimum basilicum (basil) on cardiac functions and histopathological changes in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction ...

Catheter Ablation of Parahisian Premature Ventricular Complexes From the Right Sinus of Valsalva

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 731-738, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Cather ablation of parahisian premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) often requires ablation in multiple cardiac chambers, including the sinuses of Valsalva (SoV). The safety and efficacy of ablation within the right SoV to target parahisian arrhythmias has not been widely reported.

The role of CaMKII-dependent augmented INa,L in arrhythmias during acute β-adrenergic stimulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The heart has evolved elaborate pathways for adapting function to acute stress stimuli [e.g. sympathetic stimulation of β-adrenergic receptors (β-ARs)].

Reciprocal regulation of PKA and rac signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Activated G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and receptor tyrosine kinases relay extracellular signals through spatial and temporal controlled kinase and GTPase entities.

Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy: Towards Genotype Based Diagnoses and Management

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
To improve arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) patient care four pillars of ACM research are necessary. The first pillar to improve ACM is cohort studies in which the genotype‐specific natural history of disease is described, and subsequently genotype‐specific risk calculators can be developed, such as the DSP and PLN risk calculators.

Electrical Storms in Brugada Syndrome: Review of Pharmacologic and Ablative Therapeutic Options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Electrical storm occurring in a patient with the Brugada syndrome is an exceptional but malignant and potentially lethal event. Efficient therapeutic solutions should be known and urgently applied because of the inability of usual antiarrhythmic means in

Anti-adrenergic effects of endothelin on human atrial action potentials are potentially anti-arrhythmic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is elevated in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure. We investigated effects of ET-1 on human atrial cellular electrophysiological measurements expected to influence the genesis and maintenance of AF.

Differences Between the Unipolar Versus Bipolar Potential‐Based Activation Maps of Ventricular Premature Contractions Arising From Ventricular Outflow Tracts

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The use of an automated annotation algorithm based on the maximal negative derivative of the unipolar potential (−dV/dTmax) for local activation timing in the ablation of outflow tract (OT) ventricular premature contractions (VPCs) remains controversial.

Genome‐Wide Association Study of Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence After Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation in a Japanese Population

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
This study aimed to identify the factors associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after catheter ablation. The clinical information analysis revealed persistent AF, nonpulmonary AF triggers, NT‐proBNP levels, and the left atrial volume were clinical predictors of recurrence.

Non‐Endocardial Radiofrequency Ablation of Premature Ventricular Complexes (NERA‐PVC): Safety, Efficacy and Outcome

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Non‐endocardial radiofrequency ablation of PVCs is a safe and effective procedure, even with the use of high power and/or long duration RF application. Clinicians should consider this approach in case of LV summit and/or ASV PVCs, although long‐term follow‐up is still characterized by a relatively high recurrence rate.
