Table_1_Mitochondrial Gene Diversity and Host Specificity of Isospora in Passerine Birds.XLSX
Isospora infections are common in both wild and captive passerine species. Many bird species have been shown to have co-evolved with a particular species of Isospora.

Characterization of two complete Isospora mitochondrial genomes from passerine birds: Isospora serinuse in a domestic canary and Isospora manorinae in a yellow-throated miner [PDF]
The genus term Isospora is now applied specifically to parasites of birds, with the term Cystoisospora preferred for parasites which infect mammals. Isospora is a common parasitic coccidian in birds worldwide, especially in passerine birds, in which it ...

Complete mitochondrial genomes of Isospora amphiboluri and an unnamed Isospora sp. (Eimeriidae, Coccidia, Apicomplexa) were sequenced. These coccidia infect the bearded dragon, Pogona vitticeps (Sauria: Agamidae) and black-throated laughingthrush ...

Omeprazole as a Novel Treatment Option for Giardiasis in Cats
In this study, cats with giardiasis were allocated to omeprazole, metronidazole, secnidazole or placebo groups and monitored from day 0 to 14. Omeprazole achieved a reduction in Giardia cyst shedding comparable to metronidazole and also demonstrated faster clinical improvement, indicating a potential therapeutic advantage.

We tested whether wipe cleaning of the high‐use surfaces of tube‐style bird feeders can minimize spread of a common bacterial pathogen between North American feeder birds such as house finches. Using two experiments in captivity, we found that wipe cleaning of feeder surfaces completely prevented pathogen spread when the healthy bird was only exposed ...

Detection and molecular status of Isospora sp. from the domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica).
The domestic pigeon, Columba livia domestica, is reared for meat production, as a pet, or for racing. Few reports have characterized the parasitic protists from the genus Isospora isolated from Columbiformes.

This study employs DNA metabarcoding to analyze the diet composition of the critically endangered Chinese crested tern and the greater crested tern during their breeding season in Zhejiang. The terns primarily consume epipelagic schooling fish like anchovies and mackerel, with minimal overlap with commercial fisheries (< 5% commercial fish).
