Rapid and direct detection of hepatitis E virus in raw pork livers by recombinase polymerase amplification assays

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2022
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a zoonotic pathogen that causes global hepatitis E. Outbreaks of hepatitis E are directly linked to the consumption of pork liver products.

Validation of a magneto- and ferro-hydrodynamic model for non-isothermal flows in conjunction with Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This work focuses on the validation of a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) and ferrohydrodynamic (FHD) model for non-isothermal flows in conjunction with Newtonian and non- Newtonian fluids.

Discrete isothermic surfaces. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelles Journal), 1996
Discrete isothermic surfaces are defined as the maps \(F: \mathbb{Z}^2\to \mathbb{R}^3\) such that all elementary quadrilaterals of the surface have cross ratio \(-1\). It is shown that these discrete surfaces possess properties which are characteristic for smooth isothermic surfaces (Möbius invariance, dual surface).

Isothermal Pre-Reduction Behavior of Nchwaning Manganese Ore in H2 Atmosphere

open access: yesMaterials Proceedings, 2023
The application of H2 to pre-reduce manganese ores is a sustainable approach to performing decarbonization in the ferroalloy industry. The process has been extensively studied and tested in a lab-to-pilot scale in the HAlMan EU project.

MHD and rotation effects on flow past an accelerated vertical plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion in the presence of chemical reaction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
An exact analysis of rotation effects on an unsteady flow of an incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past a uniformly accelerated infinite isothermal vertical plate, under the action of a transversely applied magnetic field is presented.

Kinetic Modeling of Isothermal or Non-isothermal Adsorption in a Pellet: Application to Adsorption Heat Pumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Understanding the interaction between a fluid and a solid phase is of fundamental importance to the design of an adsorption process. Because the heat effects associated with adsorption are comparatively large, the assumption of isothermal behavior is a ...

X-ray and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect Measurements of the Gas Mass Fraction in Galaxy Clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present gas mass fractions of 38 massive galaxy clusters spanning redshifts from 0.14 to 0.89, derived from Chandra X-ray data and OVRO/BIMA interferometric Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect measurements.

Retrieval analysis of 38 WFC3 transmission spectra and resolution of the normalisation degeneracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A comprehensive analysis of 38 previously published Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) transmission spectra is performed using a hierarchy of nested-sampling retrievals: with versus without clouds, grey versus non-grey clouds, isothermal versus non-isothermal ...
